i'm just curious because mine is usually 74c. i've tried other drivers. they were stable, idle temp stayed at 69c but standby wouldn't work. from the research i've done on here 74c seems a tad high. i'd really like to get in the 60's idle at least. the sager2092 is only 2 weeks old, and i just opened/checked the vents anyway. all clear. i don't know if sager applied arctic silver to the gpu or not. i have a $7 dollar fan blowing near my vent most of the time when i'm using the laptop on my tv cart. my $7 ghetto cooler brings the temp down 8-13 degrees. any suggestions on drivers or anything else?

yeah... they also gave me a little performance boost. make sure you use drivercleaner before installing the new ones otherwise you loose performance

how do you know it gave you a performance boost? benchmarking? fps in some games? better graphics in game? is 70c plus or minus a couple degrees the normal idle temp for the jfl92's? i've only hit 80c for about 2 seconds when i did 3dmark06 without my external fan. when i game i usually goto mid 60's c but i've only played c n c generals and neverwinter nights. neverwinter nights doesn't really do too well with the 8600 gt. i don't know why. it still looks like crap no matter what i do. performance quality settings = crap. performance settings get rid of the bad flicker/glitches. quality makes it look better if you can call it that, but i get bad flicker, gui glitches and an occasional crash.

yeah, i got about 5 extra frames in most games (and a bunch of unlocked features in rivatuner and nhancer)

turn of the nvidia control panel and try using nhancer. erase the default game profiles.. then create new ones for each of your games. let nhancer control aa and af in games and experiment with the settings. it takes some time to get each program right, but i found this to be the best combo of performance and quality

my sager heats up like a maniac as well i be honest i think its just a lazy fan.. lol i did see a temp of 85c wen playing civ4 on my lap without the cooler and year my leg was burning that was why i looked and went for my cooler.
i got a decent cooler for 30 bones, blows 36cfm up at the bottom of my book and it really makes all the difference.
it has inspired me to create one of the most powerful air notebook coolers ever.. 90-220cfm lol i'll post pics wen i finish it.

If you have a desktop, clean the GPU. Add Arctic Silver 5, or another thermal compound to the chip. Be very careful, this involves taking apart the GPU adapter and putting it back together correctly. There are risks, such as damage to the GPU from static electricity. I certainly wouldn't recommend this with your notebook, but if you have access to the GPU area and are careful enough...
