if you do not follow the install order of your system (except the chipset drivers must be installed first) and you do not have any unknown devices in device manager can it still pose a problem?
let's say you instal the chipset driver first, then the wireless, then the bluetooth, etc and so on basically ignoring the install order of your system. but at the end of the day there are no conflicts or question marks in the device manager.

I usually install whichever i seen first. never had any problem.

i've never had problems. occassionally i get a bad driver install on a particular part, but i just uninstall and install again. then i'm good to go again.
-
as you said as long as the main drivers are installed first then the rest dont matter in what order they go..

Uhm... OT, I will received 5793 without OS, and would like to know the order list to install, anyone can help?
Previously I tried to install the driver not orderly on my old Toshiba, but it gives me error and BSOD. I would like to prevent that to happen :| -

To the OP, I would say that you should check the manual's first three drivers (Generally Chipset, Video, Audio, although sometimes Audio comes before Video), as these are the most important, and any of these three out of order can cause conflicts.
If you end up with no unknown devices, however, there won't be some magical problem three months down the line because you didn't follow the installation order. -
Will be going to install Vista SP1, some said the fingerprint reader driver is not compatible with SP1, should I not install it then?
-
Ive always went Chipset, (Raid if there and needed), Video, Audio and then the rest of the lot in a random order
Never had any problems doing so
-
I'll always try to install the critical components first i.e. graphics, then wireless, then hotkeys etc.
-
My method:
First the chipset drivers, AHCI/RAID Sata drivers if not in the chipset package, if aplicable DirectX updates, then the video card and sound drivers. Finally the network card, wired and wireless one. Good to go...

Some of the chip sets need the driver for Ethernet before connecting to Internet and enabling BIOS.That might be the reason why the chipset driver is always given the priority.
just curious, driver install order really important after fresh OS install?
