    how does the limit on the 5797's RAM work? Am I right to assume that if I were to buy myself 8 GB of RAM off of newegg and install it myself, that it would only use 6.8 GB of it due to some mystical limit in the motherboard?

    chipset limitations are a reality.

    why would one need more than 4GB.... since games would not even utilize that much.

    only those working with huge caches from super high resolution (15 megapixel+) pictures, textures, etc..... would require 4GB+ of RAM.
