I told this person who has a budget of 3 grand and is looking for a 15.4 inch where weight is not a big concern that they should be buying an NP8660, and she comes back at me with this :p
    ()=my response, probably yours too...

http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=273416 - maybe you guys that own Clevo's/Sagers can convince this person that Sager has a good reputation, if you can't then that is pretty sad (on her part).

I don't have much else to say, and I don't own a Sager, yet... :)

LOL I know some friends who works at Futureshop. Even if they're smart, all they say to the customer is crap so they can get their % of the sale.

Sager has one of the best reputations of any notebook brand. Better than dell, HP, and Sony. Which is about all you can buy in a store. (not sure about Sony, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong)

    ... put together.

Tell her that she's obviously fallen for the charms of a sly salesman.

_Sony stinks (ok, so there's a bit of a personal grudge in there as well :D ). The hardware, such as it is, is generally nice, but it has very limited upgradeability, and is overpriced in terms of its performance. Customer service post-sale is about average for the other too-big companies (e.g., _HP, _Dell, etc), and is miserable once the warranty's run out (I'm sure that Sager doesn't push out-of-warranty customers to the front of the line, but, at least in terms of folks posting here, doesn't seem to pretend that they don't exist, either).

Little anecdote (humor me): I've got a PCG-Z1A. _Sony's website states, flatly, that the hard drive is not upgradeable (but they'll be glad to take your $$ if you send it in for service, tho you'll still only get a replacement with the same specs as the original - 60GB 4,200rpm). Not true; just hard to get at. All of the reps, including technical staff, feed the same party line, even after I ran one of them through all of the steps needed to do so (by this time, I could probably do a hdd swap with my eyes closed :D ), I was told that it was not possible and, by the way, I'd void my warranty (what warranty? I'd just finished explaining to the boob that I was already 3 years out of warranty).

A girl with $3k to drop on a gaming laptop.

I'd like her to fall for my charms.

The best way to convince her is to show her Xotic or PNB's resellerratings page. I don't think BBB has enough information about the user/buyer experience.

Well I wish I had a way to feel a Sager before I buy one, but the stats to price ratio compensates for any issues I would potentially have about the look and feel

I completely agree, but keep in mind that you usually get a money back guarantee. If you are truly not happy with it you should be able to send it back for a refund (minus shipping.) I know it can be a hassle, at least its an extra layer of protection. I wouldn't do this too many times; you might have a little trouble buying in the future if you returned several machines because they were too shiny :D

Obviously FutureShop is just trying to pwn her in terms of price/performance. Don't let her get screwed over by the sly sales representative. A laptop from FutureShop would be lucky to last more than 2 years.

There is absolutely no way XoticPC (I only mention XoticPC because PNB doesn't ship to Canada) would even attempt to rip her off after years and years of such a high reseller rating. Everyone on here who has ordered from them is quite satisfied, and any problems are quickly resolved. She can always contact XoticPC to chat about options and such.

I'm very picky about keyboards and touchpads. Speaking of shipping, how much does xoticpc charge for shipping? Do they offer any free shipping?

After ordering my 9262, I asked Donald if I should get the 1920x1200 instead... he talked me out of it!

Tell you what, go with another BIG company and be scammed one way or the other.
The advantage of smaller companies is a more personal support and better service all around. That being said, my experience with XoticPc has been great and I would always recommend them for buying Sager laptops.
