so with a budget of ~$1300 I've come up with this at $1,334.00 or $1,294 with cash rebate, it seems like a substantial upgrade over my current rig (check my sig for the specs)

so I'm just wondering if it's worth another $30 to upgrade to a 1TB (I plan to put my current SSD in as my main drive) and is the Sager - Intel® Advanced-N 6235 - 802.11A/B/G/N Wireless LAN Module + Bluetooth™ 4.0 (SKU - S8R111) worth $30 as well? oh and the last thing 1C Diamond Thermal Compound for $35

thanks for any advice in advance:hi2: and sorry for making one of these threads :p

I would recommend the upgrade to the 750gb 7200 RPM drive, it's going to much faster than 5400 RPM drive and if you need the additional storage you can always looking into an external drive if need be.

We also always recommend upgrading the wireless, the stock card isn't very good and you'll see a lot of dropped signals and the like. The 6235 is great, I use it myself, and rarely see any problems coming from it.

You'll find a lot of debate on the IC diamond on here. Everyone will agree that it definitely is better to get the ICD rather than the stock compound, where the debate comes from is whether to do it yourself or have it applied with the order build. If you want it done for you and ready to go when the unit arrives, you'll want to add it into the build. If you feel comfortable doing it yourself, feel free to try your hand at the application, pretty easy to do.

The HDD upgrade to 1TB is only worth it if you need the extra ~250 GB. If you're wondering if that's a fair value, then yes - $30 for ~250 GB more storage is fair. :) (Good move on the SSD/drive config.)

For online gaming, I would say the Intel Advanced-N 6235 is worth it. Killer makes a mean WiFi network card, but the Intel seems to have fewer driver issues. The stock isn't bad, but you get what you pay for.

    Nice rig!

Edit: Didn't realize the drive(s) in question were 5400 RPM. If that's the case, Derek has got you covered with his advice. :)

I was wondering how you got such a great price until i noticed you're installing the OS yourself. My rig has the same CPU/GPU as your config, and you will enjoy it greatly. Only game in my library that doesn't run on ultra with all settings maxed is Metro 2033 (and that runs on full hd on high with only a few settings one notch below max)

I have the Killer wireless card, which so far hasn't given me any issues.
