    hi,
im a first time buyer of sager, and im looking through their website (xoticpc.com) and i see so many laptops with these video cards, and i need help picking out which video card, (im looking to play some modern games in good settings):

    512MB DDR3 nVIDIA 9600M GT
    1,024MB DDR2 nVIDIA 9600M GS
    512MB DDR3 nVIDIA 9800M GTS
    512MB DDR3 nVIDIA 9800M GT
    512MB DDR2 nVIDIA 9600M GS
    512MB DDR3 nVIDIA 9600M GT
    512MB DDR3 nVIDIA 9700M GT

they are so confusing because i dont know what GS,GT,GTS means and DDR2 and DDR3, and one of them is 1024MB.

can someone put these guys in order from weakest to strongest?
and recommendations on which one to get would be nice.
and which one of these are equivalent to 8600 or 8800?
    thanks!

check this site: http://www.notebookcheck.net You find all the answers here.

btw in my opinion: (last is the strongest)

    512MB DDR2 nVIDIA 9600M GS-->1,024MB DDR2 nVIDIA 9600M GS-->512MB DDR3 nVIDIA 9600M GT-->512MB DDR3 nVIDIA 9700M GT-->512MB DDR3 nVIDIA 9800M GTS-->512MB DDR3 nVIDIA 9800M GT

Hello pkim1230 and welcome to the forums. First off, there is no reason to go to another site. This place has all the information you could possibly want and many friendly people who love to give advice (just be careful who/what you listen to)

If you are willing to take a few minutes to do some reading, this post has all the info you could need.

A quick and simple answer to your question:

The current best card: 9800M GTX and then runners up

    9800M GT
    9800M GTS
    9700M GT
    9600M GT
    9600M GS

Basically, the higher the number, the better.

Also, just a minor correction here. Xoticpc.com is a reseller of Sager notebooks, as well as Powernotebooks, Killernotebooks and many others. They are not a part of Sager, they sell thier laptops......I hope that confuses things for ya! For more info on that..... click here.

    DDR3 is better than DDR2

Actually, Killer Notebooks is a builder, not a reseller - therefore they have a different selection of components and options.

And on the graphics card subject, I second ashveratu's list.

    +1 to ashveratu's list.

GDDR3 is better than DDR2 because of several factors, but the Number of Shader Processors, Memory Bus, Memory Bandwidth and Clock Speeds matter more than the type of memory used depending on the card.

Sager discontinued the Nvidia GeForce 9800m GT though. :(

Although they have discontinued the 9800M GT some of the resellers (but not XoticPC sadly) still have a few in stock, its more of a question of checking out the wonderful resellers list by Gophn ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=264311) and finding out which one is in your area and has a few left over.

    thank you very much everyone.
i think im leaning towards a sager with a 9800gt or 9700gt depending on the price.
is there alot of difference in these two GPUs?

A lot of diference on performance, not even Dual 8700 GT's can match the performance of a single 8800m GTX / 9800m GT just for an example.

There currently aren't any Sagers with 9800GT or 9700GT video cards. What models were you looking at?

    My $0.02:

If you are a hardcore gamer, stay away from the 9600M GT, 9600M GS, & 9700M GT, they are all 128bit graphics cards, which are mid-range cards.

I think ProStar & Eurocom still have the 9800M GT (listed).

    To the OP:
    9800M GTS = 9800M GT-1%fps

I would stay away from the 9700M GT if your spending more than $1499. (check benchmarks)

Forgive me, I'm still confused. I know that Pro-Star, Eurocom, and some other builders offer the 9800M GT still, but to my knowledge Clevo doesn't even make a model with the 9700M GT.

9700GTS is the minimum that you should probably look for (first 256mbit card in that line).

darksmiley (DSS) doesn't have any left because sager doesn't have any left. When selling sager systems DSS takes the order and forwards it to sager, he never actually sees/touches the system in question. Thus if sager has no 9800m GT's, then DSS, xotic & PNB don't have any either
