ok guys and gals, i'm sick of the plane engines on the gpu's and cpu on the m980nu.

i would like to replace them all for quieter fans with at least the same level of air flow or better if possible.

what are my options here ?

where does one buy a fan for the gtx 280m's ? and qx9300? that will fit into the chassis of the m980nu ?

any and all help and advice will be appreciated :)

I don't have the system but if the fans are shaped to fit the case and are non-standard you'd have a hard time replacing them.

    doesn't your overheat ?

if that is the case you need to get your system fixed so it doesn't go into hyperspeed every time

i thought they'd be the same fans for the gtx 280's.

i was actually hoping i could but some dellalienware fans, for their 280's and install them as they seem to be quieter by all accounts.

anyone got any pics of the gpu's and fans in the m17x ?

moo - i sent it back to be fixed, and the temps are fine now but the fans are just as loud. They work like they should with different levels of speed, with increased noise with each level, but even at idle i find them too noisy for my liking, so you can imagine how loud they get at max .

    isn't your m17x quiet ?

    it gets louder

well, probably just the same but the frequency of the sound changes to a more annoying one.

the silent mode does down clock the processor though. :)

even on full load i dont get anywhere near that, only time i have broken 80 was playing crysis while sitting on my bed, with the laptop on the bed (therefore blocking the vents)

Thats strange that your fans are so loud, I honestly can't remember the last time I heard my fans, and I game on my system all the time. Maybe you could contact your retailer and see about getting some work done to your notebook?

i've not played crysis since i got it back, but if you recall i was getting 80c on 1 of the gpu's playing crysis. I'm pretty sure it wil be lower now.

the fans havn't changed in regard to the temps, i think they are just loud :(

my temps and loudness of the fans are in line with what notebookcheck reported in their review.

2nd2last - its just back from the retailer :D

Is there only two speeds or more.
I seem to think mine goes up when it hits around 50 then at 75 the fans are definately louder. Under 40 they seem pretty quiet - little audable.
    Maybe 3 speeds?
Is there some place to find out that info like in Everest?
