ok, so before, i had the score in the 5 thousands, ran it again last night and it got a 3500. ive noticed that the fps would be at 30 than drop to 10, than back to 30, doing this continuously. any ideas of what this could be?

    -overclocked

also, i have vista now, but im willing to go buy xp again if it will help

You'll lose points just from Vista bloat though I don't know exactly how many you should expect. I've heard with desktops it's about 1k but I don't know if it scales or not. You might also look at what's running in the background... virus checkers, spam blockers, automated defrag programs, etc. I've had software incorrectly decide I'm idling if I'm not pressing keys or using the mouse, at which point they start doing their thing. Something isn't right though... at stock settings you should be hitting 4400 or so.

You might want to hook up a external monitor and load something like RMClock, task manager & Rivatuner's monitoring features to see what's going on while it's testing. You may be seeing throttling either due to heat or some bad settings if there isn't a software issue.

Im kinda stumped on that two, what 3Dmark were you running, you might needed to free up some programs running in the background.
