    Hey,

Just recently I got the game Burnout Paradise Ultimate Box.

I am playing it at these settings:

    WUXGA
    Everything Maxed out (8x AA)

Except some 3d effect thing that is off
(if i turn it on, game starts to lag a bit)

Anyways, My pc shut off 3 times all of a sudden today while playing. After the system started, i immediately ran HW monitor to check the temps. Monitor was at 88, CPU at 89, GPU at 86 and HDD at 70.

All the temps seemed to be OK (to my minisucle knowledge  ) except HDD.

What are the reasons of this?

BTW, Its a 200 GB 7.2k, seagate i think. I created 3 partitions and the Vista 64 partition only has 4 gb of HDD space remaining. (There is this winsnx folder that is like 14.8 GB idk why it is so large...) Is that a reason?

I plan on cleaning it soon though, due to this. Since I got it in Jna 2008, I have yet to clean it :( .

    My specs:

    C2D X7900
    8800m GTX
    4GB Ram
    200 GB 7.2K (Seagate?)
    Vista x64 SP1

89 is High? I thought the treshold was like 95....

But now its at 66 and dropping.

Ya, IDK about that HDD temp. I mean, this is the only time that it happened. Never b4. Ive played other games, such as

    Dawn of War 2
    Dirt
    NFS MW

    etc...

But that prob was not there with these...

Yeah treshold is still above, but after long time gaming CPU temp may get that high. My 57RU will auto shut down when CPU get 95~96°C.

If you check your Event logs it should tell you why it's shutting down and what's responsible:

    1. Control Panel, Admin Tools, Event Viewer.
    2. Check the following logs:
    • Custom Views - Admin Events
      Windows - Application, System, Security
      Applications & Services - Hardware
      Microsoft/Windows - Diagnostics -Performance

I have a feeling your hard drive is running out of spec (not that it would cause your computer to shut off).
    Operating temps 0-60C
    non-operating temps -40-70C

But if you care about your data, I would be very careful.

Yeah it looks like everything is overheating and you haven't cleaned it since Jan 08??? I suggest you get a can of compressed air and spray the vents underneath and at the back. Better yet since its been so long maybe open it up and clean it properly. Your hardware probably won't last that long if you dont clean it soon.

yes, you need to clean out the notebook every 1-2 months.

how many times have I said this?

If you take care of your notebook, it will take care of you.
