Hi guys, I've been reading these forums for a little while and was highly influenced in my purchase of a eurocom m570u.

I chose to install windows myself, which has now turned out to be a big mistake. I got everything to work except for the SD flash card reader. So I wasn't sure if I did something wrong so I decided to reinstall win xp and go through the steps more slowly.

So now, I can't get my gigabyte wlan super g mini pci card to work, whereas before it was. And the bluetooth won't work either. All this along with the flash reader. It's very frustrating because it's not supposed to be this hard. There aren't that many things you can do differently when clicking next, next, next... All the drivers are included on cd except the gigabyte wlan card, which I got from the gigabyte.com.tw site.

And of course all the devices say they're working properly in the device manager. And for each of them I've tried also updating the driver from the device manager.

Anybody else having any troubles? I doubt it cuz I haven't seen any of the posts.

Other than that, the machine is sweet and I get crazy framerates in max (1920x1200) resolution in all games so far so I've got that going for me.

I'm gonna call eurocom tech support tomorrow and see if they can help me. Didn't have time today.

The driver CD should have been very easy to install yourself.
I got my Sager 5760 from DiscountLaptops.com which gets it from Sager though not EuroCom, so not sure if they use the same Driver CD.

When you load the Driver CD, do you see a Windows Install and Optional Install sections? and in each respective section a numbered procedure to install the drivers?
If you do, make sure you install each driver in numerical order in the windows section 1st and then add the optional drivers as needed.
Thats how I did it for my laptop and haven't encountered any issues.

I think the WLAN, Bluetooth are in the Optional Section.
THE 4-in-1 card shouldn't need a separate driver if it does it should be in the windows driver section.
( I got the card reader running just by inserting a card in it after I install windows and it loads up automaticly.)

I have reinstalled Windows XP MCE 2005 twice in my system and haven't encountered any issues, yet.

    Yeah,
These machines are just clevos right? So yeah the interface you described is the same thing as I have. I did those steps, 1 through 8 (i think 8) in order. Except the wlan in the option section is for the intel pro wireless, which I didn't install. The gigabyte super g card was working fine this morning, but then I went and made everything worse. When I put my SD card in, nothing happens, even though all the hardware seems fine in device manager.

Did you install everything as a user with administrator privileges or as the Administrator? Do you think that would make a difference?

GOing to attach the screenshot of the Driver CD just to be sure we on the same page.
Pretty sure we should have the same Driver CD.

How did you get a Gigabyte WLAN?
I tought the M570U is suppose to have the Intel 3845ABG WLAN?
At least thats what I have in mine.

I do not think the card reader has a driver supplied and should work without 1 due to Windows XP.
At least I do not see it in the Driver CD list and my Card Reader has worked for me.

Also, I didn't make any new user while installing my OS, so I guess its setup as admin.

The only thing I didn't install in the Optional Section of the Driver CD is Bluetooth and Automail on my 2nd reinstall of Windows XP MCE 2005 for my 5760.
I did install all of teh drivers in the 1st install of my OS and it all looks to be working fine.

My best bet is to make sure you contact your reseller and tell him a detailed info on what your issues are.

    PS:
In my attached image, somehow a couple of the drivers that I have installed didn't grey out when I reloaded the CD.
Please note that ONLY the Bluetooth and AutoMail drivers in the Optional Section is what I didn't install on my current setup.

Yeah, mine looks the same, the only difference that I can tell is mine says
"V 1.0" whereas yours says "Version 1.0p". Don't know what's up with that.

The Gigabyte wlan card is GN-WI01HT (super g) and was an upgradeable option at Eurocom.

I think the SD card has something to do with the express card setup (no 7) on the install screen. In device manager, it's listed under "PCMCIA adapters" and "PCMCIA and Flash memory devices". All the Texas Instruments stuff. I'm starting to think it's not plugged in properly or something, because it seems it should be pretty straightforward.

Oh well, I'm gonna call them tomorrow and hopefully they'll make it all well.

I called eurocom and they just had me reinstall the drivers like I've done a hundred times before and this time.....it still didn't work so they gave me an rma and I just got back from purolator to ship it back to them. They should get it tomorrow.

I didn't have to load any drivers from floppy. I don't have a floppy drive so that's good. I think they were included in the xp sp2 version or something maybe.

I just got off with tech support at Eurocom and they say something is wrong with the mainboard, so they're going to build me another system with the rest of my components and should ship it out today. I knew I knew how to keep clicking next to install the drivers myself.

    Great they having it fixed.
You should try to make them upgrade your 7900GTX 256mb to a 7900 gtx 512mb for them wasting your time :D

Yeah, I was thinking about that but I don't know think they even have the 512 MB cards yet. Does anybody know what the price difference between a 256 and 512 MB 7900 gtx is on the sager/clevo's at the other stores?

    Hi Kilim,

Does the sd card just slid in? I tried a mini sd in an adopter but it seem a tad to big?

Since it is an SD card slot, you do not need an adapter

Its a mini sd without the adapter it looks too small (would fall right in, nothing to bracket it)?

What kind of adapter are you using?

Is it a PCMCIA adapter? If so, try it in the PCMCIA slot instead of the Memory Card slot.

Good for you they RMAed it :)

I'm using mine ordered from Eurocom since last week and I had no problem at all. I had to set back to the reg 54mbps wireless card becaude they went BO on the gigabyte cards (108mbps).

I had absolutely no problems installing all drivers. My only mistake was to startup an installation of Windows XP (pre SP) and got a BSOD while installing. A switch to the SP2 CD went fine.

    ---

As a matter of fact I think you don't need a SATA driver disk with a windows XP SP2 CD.

    ---

I am also waiting for the 512mb option from Eurocom. Unfortunately, I already ordered my m570u when I saw a 512mb version would be released. But i am not a patient guy and did not want to delay the order  . Now I was just looking at their site and they charge a whopping (as usual) 195$ for the upgrade. Ridiculous. Time to barhgain again lol.

    --

I hope your replacement works fine! You'll see, it's a **** nice laptop. It makes a lot of my workmates quite jaleous ;).

Oh StuffLuster, I forgot to ask, have you taken a look on my other posts about dealing a better price with Eurocom? Did you get some interesting discounts?

I think I got an ok deal. I got them to upgrade to t2500, 100gb 7200 RPM drive, gigabyte 108 wifi, and 2 years ADP for $3K. The only thing I'm missing is another gig of RAM, but I can get that off the internet for a lot cheaper, and I don't think it makes much of a difference right now, maybe in 6 months or a year.

I'm gonna call and complain for the 2 weeks I didn't get to use my computer, plus they have to reimburse me $30 for me shipping it back to them.

Other than the lemon, pretty good service from Eurocom so far.

    Cool!

+1 to service (pre-sale anyway). Did you make your deal with Alen?

    My config:
no proc upgrade, 2gb, same HD, 54mbps wifi, tv tuner, 3years onsite, 1 yr ADP, defcon CL, for 3.1k. Even HyperSonic/Sager couldn't match (with currency conversion) lol. When dealing you hit the spot where they wont go lower lol. I think we got the same :). And about the memory, I took tigerdirect price and email him and he matched. So I just avoided opening the notebook myself :).

Mine have no dead pixels and works flawlessly. I also chose the no OS option to save a little bit. Quite capable machine.

    Good luck with your return.

I'Ll let you know about how my 512 mb upgrade request goes. Would you be interested in one? Maybe if we are a bunch to upgrade we could get a better price :D.

Yeah, I had Alen too. He was great, quick responses, helpfull. He's on vacation now until the 17th though.

I actually got my laptop back yesterday just before lunch, and played with the internet a little bit last night, but didn't have time to get everything on it and installed. The SD card works like it should this time, which is a relief. Just put it in and gets detected right away.

Yeah, I'd be interested in the 512MB card. Let me know what they tell you and I'll do likewise. A couple posts earlier WeelyTM said the card upgrade was only $65 at powernotebooks.com. I find their listed upgrade prices are about 200-300% what they should be. But at the same time, they're negotiable. So I guess they make a killing on those who just buy no questions asked.

    Ok!

I sent an email to sales this morning about the upgrade. Worst case we wait on Alen but in the meantime let see what they are suggesting. I'll make sure to tell them you're interested.

I'll start another thread to see if we can get as many people as possible.

Well, I got my laptop back thursday, and finally got everything up and running. And everything was ok up to about an hour ago. I was installing america's army and then when I went to log into my profile, it said there was a problem with the connection or the authentication server. So I exited aa and all my network connections have X's and the gigabyte utitlity has a red circle with a bar on it. And the bluetooth is greyed out and disabled. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the gigabyte wireless card, but it's still not working.

Another thing that was bothering me earlier tonight was that when the computer goes into stand by mode, the monitor won't come back on, but all the icons on the computer media bar on the outside (hard drive, wireless) come back on. That would happen whenever I closed the lid. I would have to hold the power button for 4 seconds and then restart the thing. So for now, I just put do nothing in the power options. This was working fine on the one I first sent back to Eurocom.

Also, this laptop seems to have some light leak at the bottom right of the screen, mostly only noticeable when I first boot up. I did NOT notice this on the first one I had. And last night, I got a stuck pixel right in the middle of the screen, which really had me worried. But I turned the machine off for the night and restarted it this morning and it was gone.

I'm really starting to get pissed off with this thing. I'm gonna turn this off and try again tomorrow.

Well I don't get it... The only difference between your setup is mine is that you have the 108mbps card. If you don't really need it, try going with the Inter regular card.

One thing for sure is that with wathever wireless solution I go with, it's flaky at best. I have a pretty strong signal, but copying large files over the network often results in lost connection...

I'm sorry for you. Just get that biatch back to Eurocom and get a new one :-/.

So I called Eurocom tech yesterday, and to my relief, the wireless and bluetooth were just turned off. All I had to do was press fn+f11 and fn+f12 to turn them back on. I don't know how they turned themselves off, but I don't care either, as long as they work, and don't turn themselves off too often.

For the monitor not coming back after standby, the tech emailed the video bios drivers and said he was going to find the latest system bios. I haven't flashed them yet. I think they're the same version as I already have though. I might do that tonight if I have time.

Here are some pics of the light leakage. It's my first laptop, so I'm not sure if it's excessive, but I do know I notice it, and didn't the first go around. Any opinions?

Also, I have a razer copperhead mouse, and when it's plugged in when the computer boots up, it seems to send key strokes to the system and I get crazy beeping as if there was a key locked. Weird.

Otherwise, crazy gaming laptop. Gonna buy Prey tomorrow when it comes out, I think.

    1) Yeah I had this also. Not sure what device caused it. Now I plug my USB hub once the laptop is started.

    2) Crazy as he11 :). I play GW 1920x1200 2xAA. It runs 4x well, but not sure how it will go in a GvG game :). I mostly do solo missions so no big deal.

Can anyone give me some opinions on the light leak images 2 posts up? Is that normal or a big deal? All I know is this is my first laptop and I want everything to be perfect. Is that an unreal expectation?
