I know the above threas, multi-core fix, and I have read it, but my problem is a little different and I have vista.

    1. My cpu (using rmclock) is showing 1.8ghz, it shoulld be 2.0ghz. Im not sure how to fix this throttling with the c2d, ( i have fixed it with amd turion x2 64) but the c2d has a totally different setup. Anywya why would it only be throttling .2ghz anyway? Why not 1/2?

Im confused and this is affecting gameplay, as my fps have decreased. I just got this lappy, and not sure what will fix the problem, especially using vista.

here is an image ( from RMclock)

as you can see on the bottom right taskbar, it clearly shows 1.8 ghz and the throttle in RMclock. hmmmmm.

    seems fine.

Look at the RMclock profiles, if you want full speed at all times, then you should disable all the clock speeds that are below the full speed.

.... by doing that though will defeat the purpose of saving power for you since it will not throttle the CPU speed for you (from a low speed when you are doing light stuff to full speed when you are gaming)

The profile is where you would set the throttle for battery use and AC power use.

yeah I think it throttles during lite activities, but now cpu-z is showing im using 2ghz and rmclock shows 1.8, I think its just a fault with rmclock.

^ Yeah I confirmed with rmclock doing an event log, the cpu is Throttling during gameplay, from 2ghx - 1.0ghz, and my crysis framerates are reflecting it, 37-18 real quick like then back up again in about 15-25 seconds. Will the registry fix from the multi-core fix my problem? And do I have to do the boot.ini trick as well?
    Thanks ahead

edit: also will the registry fix even work under vista?

Sound like an overheating issue. What do you keep your laptop on? are the vents covered with dust? is the back of the laptop close to syntethic materials which retain heat?

I dont think it is an heat issue as my gpu (according to nvidia monitor) is at about 47C (eventlog). But the cpu is throttling by half. This happened with my other notebook w/ turion 64 x2 and rmclock fixed it when i set up profiles and p-state transitions, but with this c2d, rmclock wont lock the cpu frequency. I guess I should do the registry hack from the sticky, but i have vista and that pertains to XP.

OK i fixed it. The computer wouldnt let me lock the cpu frequency at high levels (2ghz). But it would let me lock the frequency at 1/2 clocks (1ghz), so I did the regedit with throttle>dword...etc., which Keeps the Fan & cpu 100%. Then I used RMclock the lock the frequency at 1ghz when just browsing the net, etc, and drops the fan levels down and temps. This fixed my fps issues Bigtime! Now crysis is at a steady 25+fps at all HIGH. :D

hey naticus, have you by chance found any programs that let you monitor the temps of the 8800m gtx?

yeah download nTune ( it will have a program call nVidia monitor that will monitor temps)

try and download "notebook hardware control" It is much better than rmclock and about 39x times easier to use. Unless you know about pstate transitions and underclocking with profiles NHC will be much easier!
