    m860TU can it use 280m

    could m860TU carry a GTX 280m graphic card or would there be heat issues??

    the card would physically fit, but i daresay you would encounter cooling issues.

    The 280m is a 15% jump from the 260m at best, so it isn't a big deal.

    Big enough to warrant the need to continually check the temperatures. I imagine you'd get similar issues to those who have installed a 9800M GTX in the 8660. It worked partly, but required much management. I forget who it was who tested it out.

    Anyway, I'd want to be able to use the machine without worrying about such problems. A good threshold between your current and maximum temperatures ensures a heathier system in the longrun.

    I am not worried here about heat as much with external cooler. Byt he way do you know if 280m runs hotter than gtx9800m?

    Only question here is if 280m is supported by m860tu's BIOS and is compatable with default heatsink and such. Kep this updated guys if you have more info. Cheers.

    At least two users have successfully added 280M's to their M860(E)TU's.

    I will have done the same shortly.

    The GTX 280M operates just as hot as the 9800M GTX.
