I'm seriously considering getting the the m060tu (or one of its rebranded variants) but my parents are implying they don't want me to spend too much, probably $2500 MAX with warranty. I figure I'll be able to afford the 8800m (i.e. the reason I want this machine) but processor is a question. I'll mostly play games, get on the internet, and word process but I might occasionally do some video editing. Will the 2.2ghz processor be enough? I play a lot of games off of Steam, I heard that a bigger cache is better for this?

My humble opinion is yes that should be enough. It's mostly about the video card. That cache is fine for steam. Only game i kno that uses a bit of CPU is like crysis.

    in performance benchmarks yes.

In real life gaming, not much.

It all depends on what we are comparing it to.

For your budget, I think you should easilly be able to get a T9300 equivalent.
