Hi guys. I have a problem with my m860tu(9800m gt) bought 2 years ago. The screen started to act up like attached images 3 months ago. So i thought it was the 9800mgt problem and replaced it with fx3700m gpu now the start up screen(sager) is green and my desktop has double images and color distortion with temps up to 100C I had to shut it (fx3700m driver installed). Help! Do i need a bios flash or is my laptop busted?

When debugging issues with the image on a laptop the first thing to check would be to attach an external monitor. If the problem appears on the external monitor then the problem is very likely the video card. If the image on the external monitor is clean then the issue is likely either the LCD panel or the cable from the LCD panel to the motherboard.
As for the 100C temperature, did you apply fresh thermal paste when installing the new card?

    Good luck!

Where did you get the .18 BIOS for your M860TU motherboard ?

Did it work fine with the 9800m on an external screen? Maybe you can put it back in.

If it works perfectly on an external screen you need to try to figure out if the probelm is the cable from the panel to the motherboard or the panel itself. It is very hard to diagnose this type of problem without a spare LCD panel or cable.

If you GENTLY squeeze the top center of the screen does the image change? This is usually where the cable connects. If so, the cable MAY be loose or MAY need to be replaced.

would a screen cable really cause those types of results?

I'm going to try unplugging my screen cable while my laptop is running just to see...

you should put the 9800 gt back, we've been talking through email and i think the 3700m might have a 3600m bios but im really not sure...
