I'm just wondering if it's possible, since I use a primary SSD and a mechanical drive for storage. It would be nice to be able to install some games on the storage drive, but if I did that I would still want that mSATA SSD for caching. Can the mSATA drive in the NP9150 be used to cache a secondary hard drive?

Sell your ssd and get a bigger one and put some games on that.

Thank you for that. But going from a 256GB SSD to 512GB even if you got full price for the (now used) 256GB is still more than double the cost of a 60GB (max supported by Intel SRT) mSATA SSD.
Does anyone know if it works though? -
sure just buy dataplex caching software

The software allows you to "Accelerate" a "Target Drive". You can choose any drive within your system.
Ask your reseller to set this up for you.
mSATA caching with drive in optical bay?
