So i'm pretty sure that the battery on the mainboard is going bad in my D900C. Does anyone know if the battery can be replaced or do I have to replace the entire main board?

I looked at the dis assembly guide and there does not seem to be a mention for a battery that could come out of the main board.

I know that tower motherboards you can replace the bios batteries pretty easily.

I've never seen a notebook without a replaceable CMOS battery. Pop open the bottom, and look for one connected to the board, either directly, or by a two-pin socket.

EDIT: A fair bit of searching says it's under the palm rest.

so i was able to find the RTC battery taped to the back of the right side of the case. I can't seem to find the part# or what kind of battery it is. Do i have to take the casing off the battery in order to figure out what type of battery to get? It is a 2pin BTW.

I wouldn't take it apart. Take it into a battery store and see if they can tell you what kind it is. You can also take it into a parts store and see if you can find one that matches up to it.

I took the plastic covering off. It says CR2032 on it. I just need to find a connector that matches the 2pin I have. I could replace the battery and just reattach the 2pin connector to the new battery right?

Yeah, that'd be fine. The CR2032 is a pretty common battery, should not be hard to find. After that it's just a matter of transferring it's power to the board. As long as you're able to reattach it you are golden.

I'd like to thank you guys for the input. I was able to replace the battery without having to buy a whole new connector. I just electrical taped the connectors to the new battery and then taped it back to the location from where I found it. The computer does beep at me every so often saying it is running out of power but I'm pretty sure that's because the actual battery is very old and can't hold a charge very long.
