Better check which SMART event is playing up. Intel RST is pretty useless here, so run something like CrystalDiskInfo or HWiNFO to read the drive's values:

Thanks, I ran it and got this back.... well photobucket or this website doesnt wanna play nice but heres a link to the screenshot

looks like Merry Christmas to me because from what information i can pull up this issue implies RIP hard drive and everything i find on it says its time to backup, replace and retire. :( well then... that didnt last long :/ [IMG]

Luckily for me, with the laptop in question being so new, there's really nothing to back up. its just free programs. But i have sent them and email regarding the issue at hand.

It can happen sadly, at least the rest of the machine will not be impacted.

    Well... (sry for the size)

Gotta say I'm not to pleased with the options to choose from. Although I guess it's better than having to send it back and forth so that's a plus. The fact that I manually have to remove and ship this defective unit, install the new one and then wait for a refund, and whose to say I wont be doing this again in a month :(, is disappointing at best.

Hopefully theyll give me the HHD at cost instead of marked up. Maybe even a better brand (I believe this one is Seagate) We'll just have to wait and see

Well, could be worse I suppose...

We usually offer the cross ship as it's quicker and avoids sending the whole unit back and means you can still use it.

If however you are not comfortable working with the unit (the swap is considered a user servicable part) then contact Xotic again to let them know.

Yea like I said it beats shipping back and forth. I'm curious though is that a bill footed by you guys? I mean, I'm sure I'll learn all this quickly while rma'ing with xoticpc but hey since I got you here.

Well I've done it with Towers and its pretty simple process so i doubt ill have an issue. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to cracking this thing open and peeking inside haha. I do enjoy the tinkering

Just wanted to say thanks for posting here also

Well the first 750Gb WD black I got from Amazon for my laptop developed bad sectors after 7 days. This does happen sometimes.

No problem, our warranty details can be found on our website under the support tab (I can't link directly to our website here).

    With the relevant term here:

Sager will pay for UPS ground shipping both ways for returned products. THIS APPLIES TO END USERS IN THE CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES OF AMERICA ONLY (EXCLUDING PUERTO RICO, ALASKA, HAWAII, AND U.S. POSSESSIONS AND TERRITORIES). OTHERWISE, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR SHIPPING THE PRODUCT TO OUR REPAIR FACILITY AND WE WILL SHIP THE PRODUCT BACK TO YOU FREIGHT COLLECT. SAGER IS ONLY ABLE TO PROVIDE RETURN SHIPPING TO THE END USER FOR THOSE END USERS WITH AN FPO/APO ADDRESS.

You are right it is a simple process and is is cool to see inside ;)

Well... That was fast. Got the drive today, Install was a breeze, and the old defective unit is packed up and ready to ship. Thanks guys, COMPLETELY PAINLESS!!!

Also id like to note for any readers the box contained a return shipping label so ya just repackage the old unit, slap the label on and presto... mail it back whenever u want your money back ha.

I will note that some instructions would have been a nice touch. Luckily there's this thing called the internet and Google but I will say I was a touch perplexed when I opened the box to find just a hard drive. Like, Hey... here's a hard drive, have fun!! :) But seriously though took me 5 secs to find a video on it so not even a small deal, not even worth mentioning it to any readers just to the Sager people on this as a personal experience I had.

+1 for Sager Thanks again guys.
