well all i can say is WOW! this laptop sure is a beast.

ordered the P502 XMG from mySN UK | XMG | by Schenker Notebooks on the 31st July and received it 10th August
the UK office has only been open for a couple of weeks but as soon as i saw their website go live i ordered straight away.
i have only heard great things about mySN Germany so it is a great addition to the clevo suppliers in the UK.

i havnt got much time now but here are a few benchys so far.

    Intel Core i7 3720QM / 16gb Ram / Nvidia 680 / Crucial 512 SSD / standard matte screen / 7 pro 64bit

    Processor: calculations per second 7.6

    Memory ram: 7.8

Graphics desktop performance for aero: 7.1

just for example this is my previous score from my m860tu with P9500 processor and 9800GT graphics card Vantage P4276 M860TU Vantage Score

a few things ive got to add.
the standard matte screen is absolutely amazing and im glad i saved some money not upgrading.

in the uk we normally have a large return key but with the backlit keyboard its a lot smaller and will take some time to get used too. at first i didnt like the keys but after a few hours im used to them already.

the backlit lights are great and imo much better than the alienware i owned.
one thing im stumped with though is when i open the light panel theres no where to close it. in the manuel it shows a box at the top right of screen but theres nothing on mine. i have to ctrl alt delete to close it.

also what temperature monitoring software do you recommend using. hw monitor only show the battery and i havnt had a chance to try anything else yet.

ill update this post when i get a chance.

The HD4000 gets 7.1!!? I know that card is pretty beefy but damn. Integrated cards for the future it would seem.

Its not the integrated chip that scored the 7.1 it is the 680M but it definitely should be higher. I scored a 6.1 with no Nvidia driver installed which means the 6.1 is the integrated chip.

im in the uk so it comes with 20% vat added. £2,006.00 includes £340 vat = $3,146.91 = 2,560.49 EURO

thanks Jaug. i should know that as its in my signature post DOH!

whatever they were smoking i would like some.
ive just run my m860tu again and i get base score of 5.0 with both graphics scores of 5.9 and this is with the 260GTX. processor was 5.4 and ram was 5.0

    i was dreaming :D
oh yeh. its too ruddy hot inside though so at last i have a matte screen i can go and sit outside.

yeh its total crap. as mentioned above i get 5.9 on both graphics scores with a 260GTX

a few readings so far. fans on idle are very quiet.

how do i get the 680 to show

    edit:
steam is taking forever to download 3 games (2 hours so far and at 25%) so i have canceled the download. will copy steam folder from old computer and paste. that should take 20 minutes.

Crucial M4 512gb SSD readings added.

had a quick game on MW3 and Crysis 2 with all settings on max or ultra. beautiful and vibrant colours which have blown me away. its like playing brand new games that i havnt seen before compared to playing on my m860tu
one quick question. its saying i havnt got tesilation pack loaded so is it worth downloading this as its showing im running on dx9 and not dx11

fans have been running very low and not much difference to my m860tu so no problems like have been reported.
fan does ramp up when games are loaded but nothing drastic and do slow down again once game exits.

also im finding the speakers quite good. loud and clear while watching you tube videos. not sure if the bass speaker is kicking anything out as i havnt set up the THX sound yet.

    Hi MrDj

I am planning to buy a gaming laptop and have been researching a lot about which one to go with.

was thinking about Alienware M17x R4 with GTX680M. But after coming across schenker's XMG P702, I'm confused which one to go for..

definitely XMG P702 is much more cheaper then AW m17x.. but not sure how is its build quality and all...

I guess you have used it for quite some time now .. what do you think about it? would you recommend it against AW m17x r4 ?

Also how many days did it take to deliver?

    thanks.

Alienware is more expensive than Clevo for the same spec. m17x R4 has a flashy look, while the Clevo stays low (a better choice if you are gonna bring it to your work place). For the temperature wise, m17x R4's GPU will run cooler due to better cooling design. AW has 3 heatpipes to die area + front/back memory cooling vs Clevo's 2 heatpipes to die area + 1 heatpipe to front memory with no back memory cooling.

For Clevo if you are buying it in the UK, PC specialist costs less than mySN UK for the same spec.

hi liquidkey and welcome to nbr.

ive got the P502 so the 15" version. ive had it since friday and so far have been blown away with its power.

these clevo's are very well built.
i was expecting the XMG logo on the lid and it arrived with a plain lid. one quick live chat with the office and they have a replacement for me already.
tbh with the lid closed it looks like any normal laptop. it doesnt scream out im worth over £2000 come and nick me.
when i did own a alienware m15x it was lit up like a christmas tree and i felt quite embarrassed using it out and about as i used to get lots of people looking as they walked by. just glad i returned it after a nightmare 19 days.

my fans run on very low most of the time but do ramp up once i start gaming which is understandable as its a power house in a small body so has to be kept cool and these fans do a great job. so far ive not even felt the chassis get warm at all which is amazing for whats under the bonnet.

i ordered on the 31st july at 7.30pm and it was delivered on the 10th august at 10am so 10 days. they would not of got my order until the next day and then a day or two for funds to transfer.

    hope that helps a bit.

    edit:
    are you sure about that.
just for example take a look at their warranty. pcs 3 year top of the range warranty doesnt actually mean 3 years. its 3 years labour and 2 years parts and courier.
mySN 3 years covers for the full 3 years on parts, labour and courier. after spending over £2000 ill let you do the maths. :)

    hi,

thanks for the info. But is there any way/upgrade to make it more cooler ?

Yeah you are right. Alienware is just charging extra for their looks. and I even noticed that they were offering GTX680M with 2 GB and XMG is offering it with 4 gb for the same price as AW's

Was wondering, should I go for 16gb ram or 8gb should be enough?

There's no math to do here :) If during this 3 years your laptop doesn't break down, then pcs will be indeed cheaper than mySN.

im having no issues with heat at all. the 17" will be even better as it has a larger space for air to circulate.
when you buy a top of the range graphics card you have to expect heat of some sorts. as long as the vents and fans are cleaned out regularly there should be no problem. after ive had a serious gaming session later i will post my temperatures.

    this is true :)
but once bitten. for example my 4 year old m860tu graphics card died in its 3rd year. replaced same day by supplier under warranty.
lots of people out in computer land around the world didnt take my advice to upgrade their warranty and all their 9800GT cards died and they had to fork out round about £300.
take DJ's advice. you know it makes sense :D

Nah...if my GPU will die on me 3 years after purchase, I'll probably try to upgrade it to the latest and greatest or simply purchase a new laptop altogether.

I still agree with you about MySN, though. When I tried changing something in my order with other companies I was replied with either: 'well, tough, you should have thought about it earlier' to overall grumpiness. With MySN I was answered with: 'Sure, done. Anything else?'

    I was blown away.

They seem very stable and customer oriented, and I feel safe buying from 'em, regardless of how much more they charge (and they do...oh boy, they do).

been meaning to take some but have just never had the time in the last week. before the weekend ill get them done Jaug. ill take some outside as well to see the difference between old gloss and new matte.

    hi henry
it was a genuine mistake as mine came from germany even though i ordered in the uk.
the uk has a lid waiting for me with the xmg logo on it. how does the logo look henry or would you prefer it to be plain.

52C? That can't be right. Either the GPU managed to get colder after you closed the game, or something is amiss here.

I'll tell you what: install and run MSI Afterburner. Then Settings (small button at the bottom right) -> Monitoring -> 'Log history to file' checkbox.

Play for an hour or two. Then close it and go to the location of the log file (usually the install directory of your MSI Afterburner) and open the logfile called 'HardwareMonitoring' with your notepad. The fourth field is GPU temperature. Scroll down and then see the real temp of your laptop while gaming.

On the GPU-Z GPU temp sensor you need to select Max otherwise it's only showing the current temperature. The actual 3D voltage when gaming is 0.962v, 0.987v is when the game is exited before zoning into the idle phase so the screenshot you posted isn't running the game at that moment.

    interesting.
will it drop that quickly. i stopped game and as soon as it closed i hit print screen.
before i try afterburner and as hackness said ill change the drop down box to highest reading and not current reading (is that what you mean by putting it on max.

another thing i get an error of openCL driver bug detected. any idea where i can get the correct driver for this and would it affect readings.

Yes show highest reading is what I meant by max. By the way for the OpenCL error, when you place your mouse on the OpenCL square box do you see a message like this on both the HD4000 and GTX680M?

nope, just says "shows weather openCL is available on this adapter" and it wont let me tic the box in either 4000 or 680 :(
ive loaded afterburner now and will have a game soon.

It might be a driver problem, when I was using 302.71/304.79 on my GTX680M, the OpenCL box is ticked. However I didn't try 302.77 because my GTX680M broke down before July 20th (release of 302.77), now being RMA'd.

You can try 302.71/304.79 to see if the OpenCL box is ticked.

The first few lines are the initialization and the next few are on idle. Can you please scroll down much further in that log file? When you'll notice the '6X.000' to '7X.000' section then you'll know these are the readings from your game.

    easier to screen shot

its like that all the way through. 135.000 then changes to 718.548 and then back again.

Your max GPU usage is 85%, did you enable v-sync in MW3? Or maybe it's a fact that the CPU is limiting the GPU to run at max.

Please don't hit me, but you're still not there.. :p

You see the small lapse towards your 680M (the 718.548 area)? That's not the game, that's just a small jump. If you'll see, the log is in seconds, so unless your laptop is REALLY fast, I don't think you managed to play MW3 in less than a second :p

Keep scrolling down. You'll notice the temps go up and stay that way for a much longer periods than that (look for a long section of 718.548) and keep scrolling down until you'll see that hottest point.

Edit: only if you feel like and you're curious to know the exact capabilities of your laptop, of course.

Oh man, you guys should really start working in IT more and learn to read logs :p

Look for a homogeneous and uniform block. Something like that:
