    Hello everyone,

Today I received my XMG P702 (specs in sig) from mySN.co.uk, ordered on 14th August.

I'm at work right now. So will carry it home today evening and will get started. I have a copy of Win 7 Home Premium so didn't get one installed.

So first of all will try to do a unboxing thingy.. I have seen a lot of them by now and felt that I could do better so lets see if i'm upto it :)

Then I'll install the OS, all the necessary bench marking software, games, etc.

Then i'm thinking of customizing my win7 as Spectroplasm has done with his MythLogic Nyx1712. You can find it over here. Someone mentioned he's using Rainmeter.

    So see ya all laterz...

    cheers :D

thanks. Actually now I think that maybe I could have got an 750 GB Seagate Momentus XT, its a hybrid ssd and i read about it on Anandtech and they seem to be good.

I didn't this earlier when i ordered. It could have saved me around £100 :)

It's an awesome SSD. Really nothing I've witnessed before, starts at around ~10 seconds and everything is very snappy. But you should get another hard-drive as soon as possible, maybe a cheap HDD. I've installed a few games, set a bit of Over Provisioning, and I'm already at ~95GB and dropping, and that's after I installed most of my big applications and stuff in my secondary HDD. If you would solely use this SSD it might get crowded pretty fast in there.

Edit: oh, and of course - CONGRATS and welcome aboard! :D

Hey buddy, I compared my scores with yours and it seems that i have a bit lower scores then yours. We have the same CPU and GPU
Could it be the RAM? you have 16gb and mine is 8gb..

what drivers have you installed for 680m?

I installed the one came with the disc. i think its 302.77

Hey Spectroplasm, rainmeter is amazing .. how did you do the dll modification.

About the CUDA thing.. even I was wondering why it says that CUDA is not available

Could it be the drivers? what drivers are you using.

i had 302.71 pre installed which must be OEM drivers as they dont show on the nvidia website.

no idea about the difference in scores but if you run them 3 times you will get a different score each time. ive just not had time to do that but will have a go tonight.

would be interesting to see what windows score you get even though its crap and means nothing. i get 7.1 for the graphics card lol im wondering if this is taking a reading from the HD4000 and not the 680

was just talking to mySN.co.uk guys online about the CUDA and OpenCL thingy ... and they said it could be either the GPUZ not detecting it properly or the driver has some issues..

he has given me links to some apps for checking out the GPU..

    Hi,
    i got a P702 with HD 7970M and i got 7.2 for Graphics Card....
So i don't thinks its the HD 4000. In addition 7.2 is way to High for HD 4000.
    It think it's just a failure-windows-score-thing.

Congrats to your new Notebook. I know it's awesome :)

on my 15" its very quiet but ramps up when games are loaded. still doesnt annoy while gaming as you have the sound from the speakers (which isnt the best in the world) but just plug some external speakers in the headphone socket and you wont hear the fans at all.
the temps for the 17" should be slightly lower than the 15" as theres more room for the air to disperse.

There's one thing that annoys me with the 17": a few seconds after closing down the game, the fans slow down, but keep spinning. It's a very quiet whir, but constant. Only when I launch the MSI Afterburner the fans 'take the hint' and stop completely, only occasionally kicking into gear when extra system resources are needed and stopping again on and off, which is OK.

It's very annoying. Does this happen with the 15" as well?

Overall, though, I'm quite happy with the cooling system's sound. The fans' noise is not troublesome at all, even at full speed. It's a sort of a constant large whir, like a room fan, not bothersome at all. I have a 13" Sony Vaio Z and the noise of its' fans is horrible at full speed, like a high pitch scream. The Clevos are nothing like that.

yup i get the same thing amirfoox.
i normally have hw monitor and gpuz open in background and the fans will keep going until i close gpuz and then they stop or slow down.

Hi, haven't bought GW2 yet.. will be doing the honors very soon...
But I have been playing ARMA II and DayZ quite a lot and the temps seems to be quite low.. haven't measured them though.. but from the feel of the bottom it seems it was quite low...

will check them next I play :)

Its very quite during when idle or during non-gaming activity... and even while gaming its quite low... comfortable I would say.. and like MrDJ said .. with your headphones/earphones on its unnoticeable :)

did you check the OpenCL and CUDA tabs? maybe you could find some info about those features in there, as your OpenCL checkbox was not ticked in GPUZ.

Well I installed Frapps last night.

    WOW - Avg. 60 FPS
    Diablo3 - Avg. 100 FPS
ARMA II - 35-40 FPS and sometimes 20-25 FPS

All the above are under the highest gfx settings.

I also did some Kombustor stress testing for about 5 mins and the temps goes to max 80c at 98% load.

    :)

Congratulations on your new rig :)

I did not know that MySN was international - I have been looking at the german site, but as the Danish currency is locked to the Euro, it could be quite a bit cheaper buying from the UK :D

How long was the build time? And do you by chance have any idea what it would cost me to have a laptop like yours shipped to Denmark?
