    Any reseller know the approximate release date for this model?
    Will it really have GDDR3 (listed on Clevo's website) instead of GDDR5?
    Will it have slot-load DVD player/burner or that old style DVD player/burner?

    Any gameplay video available on interwebs with this GFX card?
    Will more Clevo reseller sell those sexy 95% ~IPS screens?

    Thx

    I wouldn't count on any modifications other than the graphics card. The chassis looks exactly the same as does the other specs (according to the Clevo website).

    GDDR3 looks to be the choice. Don't worry, you won't be finding other elegant GDDR5 GT555m setups out there unless you take a fancy with the chunky MSI GX680.

    And the 95% gamut screens, as good as they are, are not IPS.

    @Catan: Thanks for the info. I see that you are also waiting for that model. I am debating between waiting for this or going with Dell XPS 17 (l702X).

    @Justin: Thanks for the info. I hope 5160 is same. :)

    One thing I would like to mention is that, some people are saying that Clevo won't upgrade their cooling system for GT 555M. The current NP5160 is already having some heating issue. Putting even stronger GFX card with same cooling will result in even higher temps.

    The NP5175 has a higher configuration starting point over what the NP5170 had. It starts with the i7-2630QM and of course with the nVidia GT 555M. The NP5170 started with the i5-2520M Processor with the 540M. So you are getting alot for this price difference :)

    I'm also patiently waiting for this refresh. I do wish this notebook allowed for RAM like including room for 4 sticks instead of just 2.

    I'd rather have support for 1600 Mhz, 2x4stick setup is plenty atm.

    the i5 to i7 upgrade is 30$, so we're talking about $70 difference for the graphics. What a steal! (Dell charges 150 to upgrade from GT 550m to GT 555m)

    I like the $70 increase. The 2GB Mem config which is different from all the other notebooks which have 3GB or 1.5GB Mem configs. The card in the Sager must be custom.

    Anyone know what the full specs on the geForce Gt 555M in this machine? Does it have 144 Cuda Units and does it have a 192 Bit Memory bus or is it 128 bits?

    According to the nVidia site the GDDR3 GT555M would have a 192 Bit bus but the Sager's 2GB Mem would suggest only a 128 Bit bus.

    My reseller lists it as:
    NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 555M 2GB GDDR3 DX11 144 CUDA Cores

    I understand your confusion, I suppose we'll have to wait for an answer form someone who knows.

    I just read a review of the GeForce 550ti which is a Desktop Discrete Graphics card which has 1GB of Memory with a 192 Bit Memory Bus. The review on Anandtech explains the odd-ball memory configuration of this particular chipset and seems to suggest that nVidia can interleave the memory banks as to obtain the standard memory configuration.

    wait wait wait, I'm confused by all the model numbers being tossed around. SO. We're saying the 15.6" model with the 555M is going to be released early may or so, correct?

    I'm really confused, is there a system that is still to be released that no one knows of yet? It seems that the w150 and w170 is already released with gt555. I'm just cautious of ordering now if there is a new laptop chassis available in may.

    Sorry to be a pain.

    Noo, the pricing difference is like ~180 from the same config as NP5160, because I'm still paying full price for the custom screen while the default screen was bumped to FHD glossy. Is that right, Justin? :/

    Sry but I can't justify the extra $125+ for the "updated" system. This sux for those who plan to upgrade the screen to 95% NTSC Color Gamut screen because the upgrade costs the same as if you upgrade it from the 1600x900 screen found in NP5160... So basically, for these people, $125+ extra money is for GT 555M only...don't think it costs that much extra for 540m to 555m upgrade....

    Its $80 difference from what I can calculate from the Sager site since the NP5165 has a standard FHD display

    I got my price diff from XOTICPC.

    NP5165 = $852.63
    NP5160 = $726.53

    and again, what I said for the extra $125+ JUST FOR 555M applies ONLY to those who are planning on upgrading screen to 95% NTSC Color Gamut Screen. If you are planning on upgrading to this screen, it DOES NOT matter what is stock...but the upgrade price for both models is THE SAME...so the extra money is only for the GT555m which you cannot get from NP5160...don't think GT555m would costs even $75 more than GT 540m...

    144 shaders (that's a 33% increase) and nice clocks will make a pretty tangible difference, though it's too bad it is DDR3. They both operate under the same ceiling.

    I highly doubt that the GDDR5 version will ever be used, if it's not going to be used now. There's clearly some tradeoff according to the specs sheet here: GeForce GT 555M, so the gains would be negligible.

    I would really be disappointed if the Sagers don't use the 192 bit memory bus. From my readings, GDDR5 cards are power hogs so only true gaming units with beefy PSUs will include these cards.

    Yeah, with 128-bus it'll just be another hyped up 540m (wich in turn is some 4xxm?) and so on, sad really. Think we had picture from user pc-konsulten on here from gpu-z which showed a w150hnm (np5165?) with a 555m that only had 128 bus. So far it seems that only the dell/alienware has 192 bus.

    The upcoming MSI GT780R has a GT 555M with 144 shaders, and 128-bit GDDR5.

    That's the ultimate version of the GPU.

    Don't forget it has 4x the ROPs so it might cope with AA better.
