Does anyone know if the new Core Duo 5720 will be offered with a nVidia Ge force Go 7900 video card?
Would that be a good upgrade from the 7800 Go currently offered?

The M570U is scheduled to be released in a few weeks. RockDirect out of the UK already has it posted on their site:
http://rockdirect.co.uk/notebooks/xtremectx_cons.htm
It's avaliable with the X1800XT 256MB, and they recently announced the considerably faster Go7900GTX 256MB to be avaliable as well.
Sager should offer it in the updated 5720. The Go7900GTX is 15% or so faster than the Go7800GTX, plus it has better power management and runs cooler. Comparing 3DMarks, the Go7800GTX gets about 7,000, and the Go7900GTX over 8,500. -
Thanks Chazman,
It sounds like a no brainer for me to wait for the "new" 5720 and get it with the 7900.
Can't wait - actually my son can't wait. This will be his high school graduation/college "gamimg" computer.

Now we're SURE it's not the crummy 7900 GS that some places offer. Cause this deal seems impossably good! ^^

I wouldn't classify the GeForce Go7900GS as 'crummy' in any shape or form . . that's a really powerful card, just 12% slower than the Go7800GTX, but uses half the power and produces less heat/more battery life as a result. Impressive.
Chaz -
Would 12% slower be the Go7900GS be the model with 512 meg of memory?
What sort of percentage increase in Battery life is there? -
Which machines features the Go7900GS? just asking... hehehe
Well.. if it uses half the power, and has less heat than the 7800 then that's a pretty impressive feat in itself -

The other machine that has the GS is the lower-end Dell XPS M1710. The GTX is a $399 option (!). -

The new Sager NP5760 with the Intel Core Duo processors and the
nVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GTX w/256MB GDDR3 is releasing for Pre-order Friday May 12th at 6 PM Pacific time.
There is a $100 Instant Factory Rebate for all Pre-orders placed by 5/31/06. -
UPGRADE??
-----------
I think the post should also talk about the upgradable 7900 Go GTX for Sager (CLEVO) notebooks as well.
Is the new NP5760 using MXM video cards to house that 7900 Go GTX???
That's what I would like to know.

P.S. Geforce 7900 GS is a freakin' good card for the money, best AGP card out there. -

Yes, both the NP5720 and NP5760 use MXM video cards. [Edit] Oops! I stand corrected. They are not MXM, but they are still easy to swap (Remove under cover, remove cpu heat sink, remove GPU module, replace GPU module, replace cpu heat sink, replace under cover, done). However the issues regarding the upgradability are still the same.
I apologize for giving bad information before. [end of Edit]
Upgradability however is a tricky question. While the cards themselves are easy to remove and replace (just like a piece of memory), until the new cards come out the laptop manufacturers never know if they will work or not. The new cards usually require more power in the AC Adapter, modifications to the motherboard and BIOS, and a more intense thermal solution...soooo, it is impossible to predict or guarantee that just because the cards are easily removable and swappable that they will work until the cards are released and tested. -
Thats a good point.
I got a Clevo D900K (OEM: Sager 9750) currently with 7800 Go GTX. Its the largest chassis of all the Clevo notebooks, the 15 pounds of weight is mainly dense copper piping and heatsinks. It should be able to withstand the heat, as for the power requirement, this notebook has also the one of the largest AC bricks out there (a whopping 3 pounds), it is about 220-230 watts. BUt as for the BIOS compatibility, I feel that Clevo might be able to update it for new hardware support, thats the real tricky part.
Thanks for the input,

ok, i understand that there is no real need for 512mb graphic card but what about future. i want to be able to play games in decent quality in half year. have you guys seen upcoming projests like Crysis or Haze. those games visually are not comparable with anything thats out right now, and are scheduled to come out already at the beginning of nex year. in not talking about 512mb graphic memory making sense right now but in the near future too. i gues it will have sense to have it when games will be having larger, more quality textures/shaders/models... has anyone idea when 5760 is going to be available to order with geforce 7900gtx 512mb?

Funny you mentioned the new games.
I just came back from E3 2006. Crysis, UT2007, and other high quality games are definitely going to need higher-end cards (512mb preferrable). However, until Windows Vista (due out by next year) is out with DirectX 10, the need for these last generation DX9 cards can be needless.
I got the chance to play Crysis, it looked real & awesome, but it was very sluggish in performance (about 20-23 frames a sec) with SLI 7900's in it. As for UT2007, the live demo of the gameplay was the shiznit, looked good and ran fine with the current gaming hardware available, however the game got the edge by having a Ageia PhysX card (world's first physics processing unit) in it as well. Other highly anticipated games, such as Battlefield 2142, will do just fine with current video cards because they are still using the same engines as before (such as BF2 engine for the new BF2142).
Got a chance to see VooDooPC's rebadged Clevo M590K (Sager NP5950) with the 19" LCD and dual SLI-mode 7800 Go GTX (512 mb total). It was pretty freakin nice running BFME2 (Battle for Middle-Earth 2), how ever the resolution for such a large LCD could have been much better because it only had a 1680 x 1050... it should have gotten at least a 1920 x 1200 option as well.
So until the new Windows Vista shows that it is viable for new generation gameplay, I would hold off on using up too much cash on the current high-end DX9 video cards. But the Agiea PhysX is going to be a "must have" for gaming desktops and notebooks (soon to be produced).
My Clevo D900K (Sager 9750) turned a good number of heads when I was there, either for its sheer size, or the cool customized build. It sure made the Dell XPS geeks put their heads down in shame...
Hope we all continue our pursuits in mobile hardcore-gaming.

P.S. Got my @ss fragged against Fatal1ty in Quake 4. Score: 25 to -1 (me). It wasnt just me though, he pretty much made every1 get a score of 1 or less. -

Bump.
Noticed that places like Discountlaptops are now offering the 256mb 7900GTX as part of the 9750 configuration.
Does anyone have any idea or have they approached Sager/Discountlaptops or Powernotebooks on how much the upgrade is going to cost to jump to the 256mb 7900GTX or the 512mb 7900GTX at the end of July ? -
LoL...
I dont wanna say "I told ya so"... but I told ya so.
Sager 9750 (Clevo D900K) are packing heat now by the annoucements of 7900 Go GTX video cards being supported, both 256 mb and 512 mb versions.
I am currently getting the pricings of each card directly from the manufacturer's, both for individual and upgrade pricing (from the OEMs).
So I will post it if no one has by the time the I get the info.
Yeah, yeah, MXM upgradability owns, LOL.

P.S. That'll show Dell's new wanna-be high performance notebook what's up. -

Sager has not worked out an upgrade program at this time, but we will post it here once they do.
