Hard flashing with another laptop... Right. Since booted to DOS the EFI BIOS prevents any recognition of graphics cards at all?

Maybe the x7200 is different. What exactly are the symptoms of your problem?

What do you mean by soft flashed exactly? I wasn't aware of any modern way to do this outside of dos diagnostic apps loading the vbios file into memory temporarily, what are you doing?

I think Nvflash 5 and up will only run on win7. The rest are made for true DOS, booted from a usb stick.

I guess when you flash in win7 it has to be supported by the BIOS, and it uses the shadowed vBIOS image until you restart.

That part I'm familiar with, I was just wondering if by "soft flash" he meant something like loading your own vbios into memory rather than flashing the gpu's eeprom etc or if he meant something else.

Wording confusion is all, i'm used to "soft" meaning in counter to actual "hard" flashing.

about flashing, we know there is a restricted area in nvidia vbios, which is the most important and dangerous, if that area have a little wrong the card brick and wont start anymore even booting with dual card, but have to solder out the eeprom and reprogram it...........
so my hard flash means to do the nvflash --eraseeeprom first to force the bios completely overwrite by the new bios, just like unlock gtx465 to gtx470 method bcz normal flash -4 -5 -6 will bypass the area

btw the --eraseeeprom was -e, the short command which nvidia hide now............it seems they have got too many rma card which brick by that way
