I am currently looking for a new laptop, got an offer of NP5792 with 8800m GTX, it's 2.0Ghz. so i am wondering how much are the performance difference between 5792 and 5793 with 2.4Ghz? different front bus speed? if the difference is too big than i might just go for np5793 instead. Thank you! ;)

The 5793 has an extra fan. Since it's the latest revision, you might want to go with that.

does it suggest that 5792 might get over-heating? isn't penry suppose to run cooler?

Don't know about over-heating. But one extra fan... DOES suggest better cooling, doesn't it ? ;) Oh, and not to mention "Extreme edition" written at the bottom of the laptop! :D Actually this 5793 revision came for the X9000 extreme edition processor, thus the extra fan. Yes, Penryn DOES run cooler.

it would depend on how good the offer is on the 5792 if its a big saving and the spec suits go with that one, I dont think there are any heating problems on either notebook

I suppose it depends on whether you want to upgrade the processor in the future then the penryn is going to be the best option

I believe the extra fan was for the extreme processor that is an available option.

yes, that is true. Only a Extreme proc may have a problem with the 5792. Well, I have an extreme proc, and mine is like a 5792, but the 5793 was put for overclocking

The extra place for a 3rd fan isn't normally occupied by one, although it can be.

The heatsink and cooling system are said to be better in the 5793, though. I've never read the 5792 to have issues, it's just that the 93 has a beefier system that can take the Extreme processor.

If possible, I would definitely get the latest model (5793). No reason not to :)

Correct, my 5793 does run a T9300 and does not have the extra fan. The heatsink and processor support are more advanced than in the 5792, so I am happy.

aha so there is a big difference then other than just a mobo revision?
in that case get the 5793, unless of course the deal on the 5792 is really killer! :)

    Why was hkman banned?
Anyway, the 5793 has a setting for a third fan if needed. I don`t remember Justin saying that there actually is a third fan there unless the extreme cpu`s would need it.
But the extreme edition engraving is a cool feature, might be cooler to be on the lid or somewhere in front so that anyone can see it.
    Appart from that, the 5792=5793.

you know you are probably not far wrong, I suppose the 5794 would be the one with e-sata that was shown with the TU machine :)

montevina motherboard, and loads of new compaitbility, which probably includes the next gen graphics cards, which if the mxm slot is the same might mean we can shove them in our current machines :)

dont guys, the wife wants a pink notebook, aaaarrrgggghhh
her 6 year old tosh will die this year, I can see it already happening, and I will have to back it up, because she aint listenting to me :) typical...........
its been a good machine though, 1 memory upgrade from 256 to 512!!!, 1 replacement hard drive and 1 replacement fan...........but spending on it now would be throwing money away :)

So pink laptop is gonna happen booooo!

you are all so stoked about the 5797 but thats just so last 30 seconds, the 5798 includes the fix for holo hacking.
