Hey I am wondering if anyone kind enough to share their 8800m GTX overclock value? also do you use Rivatune or nTune? my nvidia control panel doesn't has "performance" section. weird.

Ther's a BIOS from Gangsta. He's good with that. And he did tell me many things about values, most of which i didn't understand.
-
Riva Tuner or Ati Tool are the best.
The 8800M GTX can go upto 600/1500/900 safely , as most people will verify that.
Just make sure your temps are below 75C-80C. -
Also does Riva Tuner automatically start your OC values on startup? -
If you tick "run at windows startup-via registry key" yes it will.
-
Doesnt nTune do the same thing?
-
-
I don't use Rivatuner or nTune to OC my card anymore because none of them detects the right values for the 8800M GTX. The only way to OC the 8800 correctly is through bios flashing.
-
maksin01 how you flash the bio for OC?
-
I find the same thing as maksin, no software will oc my card, so i do it via bios flashing
-
download a tool called nibitor, download or extract (via gpuz) the vbios, modify the clocks (and or voltage - need 1.05 for high overclocks) then get nvflash, make a bootable usb stick and flash the card
-
I just tried in rivatune 2.09, the highest number I can go are 575/1150/455. they are even lower than default numbers.
-
Right.. first things first..
a bigggg thank you to gangstaone and Mlongrie for telling me how to do this overclocking bizness.. everything went smoothly.
rivatuner is reporting the right clocks now(the overclocked figures of 600/975/1500)
GPU Z is also reporting the same figures. temperatures is around 52 degrees idle with medium fans and NC2000 cooler..
if anyone whats the guidlines give me your emails and i will foward the instructions -
Did you software oc or bios flash oc? if it is software i'd like to know how
-
That`s weird, a lot of 8800M GTX users OCed their cards via software
-
-
thats what i found too...
-
i hardware overclocked my card. software just doesnt work. rivatuner wont work
but it does tell me the correct figures when i look at my hardware monitoring profile. -
I get a BSOD every time I attempt to execute nTune... any help on that ?
-
^^no idea dude. i dont use ntune. but i am having a problem with my bloody drivers. this was happening even bfore i o/c my cards..
everytime i install and restart my comp. it detects it. then when i restart it again it seems that rivatuner cant detect my drivers. it just says that no forceware drivers detected. anyone know wtf is goin on... this is pissing me orf to no end.
even after enabling sli and restarting it seems it cant detect my d3d settings -
I get the same problem with my 8800m gtx. No software tool will overclock it - any attempt to raise any frequencies beyond stock results in the sliders/whatever immediately reverting to the stock speeds when you click apply.
BIOS flashing it is, then. -

I was getting BSOD and not able to overclock over default value with every program I tried, so I grabbed my nuts and flashed an OC'ed BIOS (600/950/1500) runs great and doesn't even get more than 5 degrees hotter than normal, fans do kick on just a tiny bit more so it doesn't break that threshold, but only in games that really demand it to perform to the max. Still downclocks to stock value in 2-D and battery to conserve heat and battery too!
>>>>heres a screenie I took for reference, winamp: milkdrop 2

If you use the above method of flash, remember that you boot into DOS and DOS has a eight letter limit in naming convention, ie. "name".ext , where "name" is 1 to 8 letters and ext stands for extension and is limited to 3 letters. If you get an error message "can't find something.rom", simply reduce "something" to eight letters or less, and if you are using a batch file, change the name in the batch file to match the new ROM name.
I followed the above method, thanks to Darshan and Lyubomir. It worked and booted, but I had to drop the oc back, due to a beep and black screen during 3dMark06 testing. Currently set a 600/900/1500. All seems well.
The process is very straight forward, and really quite comfortable if you are used to DOS..... -

I used the same ROM and then got artifacts in World in Conflict 1900x1200.So reverted back to original ROM.And the temps went to 74 from normal 62.
-
Dose anyone know how to edit the rom file and possible set the clocks higher?

Use nibitor.Google and you can get it.Read your card, save it as a file. There are built in options to change the voltage and clock and then after changing those, save it and then flash it.
need some info regarding 8800m GTX overclock
