Hey I am wondering if anyone kind enough to share their 8800m GTX overclock value? also do you use Rivatune or nTune? my nvidia control panel doesn't has "performance" section. weird.

Riva Tuner or Ati Tool are the best.
The 8800M GTX can go upto 600/1500/900 safely , as most people will verify that.
Just make sure your temps are below 75C-80C.

    Why not nTune?
Also does Riva Tuner automatically start your OC values on startup?

If you tick "run at windows startup-via registry key" yes it will.

I don't use Rivatuner or nTune to OC my card anymore because none of them detects the right values for the 8800M GTX. The only way to OC the 8800 correctly is through bios flashing.

download a tool called nibitor, download or extract (via gpuz) the vbios, modify the clocks (and or voltage - need 1.05 for high overclocks) then get nvflash, make a bootable usb stick and flash the card

    Right.. first things first..

a bigggg thank you to gangstaone and Mlongrie for telling me how to do this overclocking bizness.. everything went smoothly.

rivatuner is reporting the right clocks now(the overclocked figures of 600/975/1500)

GPU Z is also reporting the same figures. temperatures is around 52 degrees idle with medium fans and NC2000 cooler..

if anyone whats the guidlines give me your emails and i will foward the instructions

I get the same problem with my 8800m gtx. No software tool will overclock it - any attempt to raise any frequencies beyond stock results in the sliders/whatever immediately reverting to the stock speeds when you click apply.

    BIOS flashing it is, then.

I was getting BSOD and not able to overclock over default value with every program I tried, so I grabbed my nuts and flashed an OC'ed BIOS (600/950/1500) runs great and doesn't even get more than 5 degrees hotter than normal, fans do kick on just a tiny bit more so it doesn't break that threshold, but only in games that really demand it to perform to the max. Still downclocks to stock value in 2-D and battery to conserve heat and battery too!

If you use the above method of flash, remember that you boot into DOS and DOS has a eight letter limit in naming convention, ie. "name".ext , where "name" is 1 to 8 letters and ext stands for extension and is limited to 3 letters. If you get an error message "can't find something.rom", simply reduce "something" to eight letters or less, and if you are using a batch file, change the name in the batch file to match the new ROM name.

I followed the above method, thanks to Darshan and Lyubomir. It worked and booted, but I had to drop the oc back, due to a beep and black screen during 3dMark06 testing. Currently set a 600/900/1500. All seems well.

The process is very straight forward, and really quite comfortable if you are used to DOS.....

Use nibitor.Google and you can get it.Read your card, save it as a file. There are built in options to change the voltage and clock and then after changing those, save it and then flash it.
