The 1.00.18s bios for the w870cu is supposed to give advanced chipset control, don't know what that means or if it applies to the w860cu bios though..

There is also a unlocked 1.00.18 bios available in the owners lounge.

I've been using 1.18. You can disable HT on it if you want.

    Hey,
Can you link me to that unlocked 1.00.18 BIOS?
I'm already running the unbranded 1.00.18 on my W880CU but I can't see the advanced chipset control.

Why do you need an unlocked BIOS? Just use Throttlestop, overclocking in the BIOS won't do anything because the TDP stays the same.

I want to disable HT. It's holding back my Throttlestop OC and I have no use for it. All the 1.01.18s files I found online are .iso and when I try to view their content using Magic Disc or MagicISO, their content show up as empty even though the file is like 6MB.
All I'm asking for is the 1.01.18s BIOS files, I don't know about SL1 and SL3 though... I have EC14 already.

You can find the file on the official sager web site. Just go to the support/driver section and select your model. Or here:

    Sager bios

I use nero to burn the iso first then reboot the pc with the cd. Make sure to update the EC version first when prompted, then update the bios.

Never mind, I see you want the unlocked version. If it's not an official bios I wouldn't recommend using it. You can't really OC the cpu any way. Plus you have greater chance of bricking your laptop if the bios isn't modded.

Thanks for the link, I already have it from there but it's a .iso and I don't have a burner. I wanted to extract the files using MagicISO or something but it can't read the content, it shows up as blank even though being 6MB. Would you be able to get the files from your physical CD and upload them for me ?

If you do get it disabled, I would run some benchmarks if I were you. I thought the same thing, so I ran a day's worth of bench's to test my theory and I was wrong. The i7's run better and more efficiently with it enabled. Just giving you the heads up that disabling it may do what you think it will. :)

I'd still like to have the option though :) Some applications are not multithreaded and don't run well at all. I'm sure it won't make much difference for most applications but for some it will probably.

What would be awesome is if someone wouldn't mind extracting the files for me and uploading them. It seems that burning the iso to a CD and then getting the files from there is the only way. I even mounted the iso in Fedora and nothing showed up inside.

Getting them off the CD isn't as easy as just burning it and copying them off, you need to extract them from the bootsector, there are a couple of programs that can do it - maybe magiciso?
