anyone know if there are any new slimmer chassis designs for 15inch sager/clevos?
most manufacturers are focusing on cutting down weight and slimming laptops down but all the new clevo designs look basically identical to the old ones. hopefully theres something new coming out.
thanks

That's because clevo actually puts powerful components in their chassis'. Instead of keeping the tech the same and slimming the chassis, clevo keeps the chassis the same and puts new tech in.

Lol. Once a colleague asked why my m860tu was so thick because his laptop was very thin and powerful and I told him to cater for the huge fan to cool the powerful components. He asked me, you mean powerful like the Macbook Pro?
I fired up Crysis, he then looked at his Macbook Pro with less enthusiasm and put it in his bag. -
best thing I heard all day

true, they are powerful notebooks and thats why im interested in one. It doesnt meant that they shouldnt make an effort to design and slim the body down though; or at least add some more media keys to them.
Afterall the 13' LG P310 weighs 1.65kg and has a 9600M GT. Im sure clevo/sager could slim down their beasts. -
Slim them down and fry them up?
-
If its any consolation, Clevo will be releasing some slim notebooks with weaker video cards for people who want that slimness.
I mean, for what it is, the m860tu is easily handled in one hand. Its basically a notebook (hard cover paper notebook for you who have since forgotten) that can be carried around from class to class (if the battery life were better of course) -

With my 8800M GTX (same card as 9800M GT) I get a max of 11237

scourge has the most bad-a** m860tu here, you wouldn't see a config like that on any other 15in notebook. Cooling a X9100 and a 9800M GT is not easy in such a small environment.

My god, so much e-peen in this thread.
Clevo already produces a fairly slim 15 incher to suit the budget market. The M76xTU was made to suit those in the budget market whilst retaining performance and portability. If that's not slim enough, then one should look elsewhere.
Sager distributes a slightly thicker 15 inch laptop built off the Compal JHL90 if you want to have a balance of power and portability. -
If you aren't worried about paying high end games but you still want speed and portability check out the Eurocom Puma M72T.
It's capable of the exact same setup as what I have - the dedicatd graphics. Gotta be the fastest 12.1 inch in the world. -
OK, if you insist, I'll up my bid to 11696
-
nicely done my friend, that will probly stand for a while.
I gotta ask.....what are your CPU and GPU clocks? -
they're on the result in ORB..(Click on the result)
CPU 3284MHz
GPU 620/1550/975
Being able to multiplier OC my CPU helps -
sonofa......
-
OK, just coz I could...
CPU 3.264GHz
GPU 630/1575/975
11760...
P.S. Sorry for hijacking the thread -
show off, hahaha thats crazy how did you even get 3dmark 06 to finish?
-
what? you guys let the riko come in and show you guys up? lol
just kidding!! -
3dmark ran without a hitch... Temps never went above 77cpu/75gpu, but thats on an NC2000
-
what exactly is wrong with the m860tu as a meidum range/gaming laptop size class?.... the only situation where i could find it abit thick is prob on a airline... or perhaps a small leacture room notedesk.. (which suck any way)..
but yer as above.... 9800m .... is the reason why... and by the time they can shrink it... newer top of the line GPus will be out -
I wonder what they're going to do in the near future (Clevo) for the 15.4" notebooks when the graphics cards become so powerful, and hot. I guess new technologies will have to come out.
new designs?
