I downloaded the 180.84 driver from http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_gtaiv_downloads.html and replaced the nv_disp.inf file with the one available at http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/
I read in a forum a guy that broke his graphic card with this drivers playing GTA4.![]()
so I am wonder if anyone has problems with these drivers 180.84.
by now, I have no problems in GTA4 or any other game, but now I am a little worried...![]()
do you have testet this driver in your laptop??
woks fine for you??
any problem??

You always take a risk when downloading drivers like this. Make sure your laptop is cool when you play games
. I stay away from drivers like these because the cons are often greater than the pros.

I disagree. There is very little risk to downloading drivers in this fashion. The worst that can happen is that you have to reformat your drive and re-install your OS. I've never seen bad drivers damage hardware in my 20 years as a software/hardware tester. I find claims of this to be far-fetched.
-
so if I have not experienced anything rare or wrong by now, then i can use this drivers??. i have not to worry... true?
-
I can't install it on my notebook because of "no compatible hardware".
-
but as I said, you must download the driver from http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_gtaiv_downloads.html
(the one from laptopvideo2go does not work)
then, you extract files in a folder and replace the nv_disp.inf file with the one available at http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/
i hope that this helps to you -
I already tried that, it still does not work for my 9800M GTX with device ID 0608. I have even tried to modify the inf file to match the entry for the 9800M GTX with device id 0617 but this does not help. I have also tried the mobility modder application. I have also tried to take the .inf file from the previous released forceware drivers, so far no luck.
-
I dont understand why does not work for you.
for me, no problems.
I have the same graphic card (9800M GTX ID 0608) and I installed the drivers without problems.
as i said, I download the driver from nzone. run the .exe and uncompress in a folder. then the driver autorun for install but it cant becouse still has not modify the file .inf.
then i download the file inf from laptopvideo2go and I replace with the original in the folder that i make the install.
then I run the setup.exe and install the drivers without problems.
(i hope that you can understand me now. my english is very bad)

I did exactly the same. I am going to give it another try later this evening after cleaning up my system with Driver Cleaner.

I downloaded 180.84 along with the modded *.inf from laptopvideo2go last night and installed it without any problems. You will have to change the file "nvpvenc" to "nvpvenc.ax" once you unzip the driver download.
Posted on the site:
One of the files got renamed wrong and it's affected in all 4 versions.
nvpvenc.ax is the proper name, in the previous download it was nvpvenc (ie no extension)
If you have already downloaded it and get the file not found error, just rename the file as above with the extension and all will be well. -
Nope I still get this error:
---------------------------
NVIDIA Setup Error
---------------------------
The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit.

OK

Man this is sux. I 5 minutes away from reinstalling freakin' Windows Vista because now I can't even install the 180.70 drivers and these are the drivers I had installed -
I managed to install the 180.70 drivers but I cannot install the 180.84 drivers, I have even tried copying the .inf file(s) from 180.70 to 180.84 directory but it still won't install.

In NVIDIA Control Panel, under "3D" I have "Set PhysX configuration" instead of "Set SLI configurations." I have had this kind of problem with some other forceware drivers allso.
