Congrats!! The wait sux!
-
the worst ever! -
I ordered a np5793 from sagernotebook.com. They said to produce it early this week and then ship it over to the Netherlands. Should be in here just after Easter. Or...
My config:
17" WUXGA "Glare Type" Super Clear Ultra Bright Glossy Screen (1920x1200)
T9300, 2.5GHz w/6MB L2 On-die cache - 800MHz FSB
512MB PCI-Express nVidia GeForce 8800GTX
4 gigs ram, 200gb hdd (7200rpm)
Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit
Let's see who gets it first! -
Congratulations guys!
I myself will be ordering on the 20th of this month!!
This is my config...
-
Besides the HDD, OS and warranty that is what I'd want to get. Great configuration by the way!
-
And I'm just NOT able to pay extra for a better warranty without downgrading some components... oh well....
-
I need a bigger HDD (preferably 500GB) and I have Windows Server 08. I'd also get a better warranty, due to the fact that I'd like to keep it for a while.
-
Ah I see... none of that really applies to me (other than the warranty I can't spend for), so I'm fine.
Thanks F2B!
Have the new 500GB HDs hit the market now ? Are they readily available ? -
Congratz you guys
You gotta love it
Ive just entered 3rd week with mine
-
I say bravo!
And I see you go for bulk, not for speed. Because the hitachi 200GB 7200 drive blows them all away... -

congrats on your order, one of the best things about these are the keyboards, that really makes them stand out, any typist will appreciate the solidity
-
im waiting to order mine until graduation that way ill have the extra bucks for the better componets, hopefully the m860TUs and m570TUs are out by then =x
-
@ God OF Death
looking forward to the pics, that's a nice spec you got there. Im sure the 8800 would be worth it... -
How long would it take for the 500GB 5400RPM drive to arrive in notebooks (other than Zepto) ?
-
should be available next month at least i believe.
-
Hmmm.... too late for me..
-
just go get the laptop already...

EDIT: I'm having a little worries about how the U.S. standard adapter wire won't plug into walls here... this is U.K. (?) standard... dunno.... so I'll have to look for some kind of transformer/convertor plug here.. Else, I'm royally screwed!! -

samsung announced 250gb 7200rpm drives mmmmmmmm, now if I can somehow shoehorn two of those into an M570RU............
I think its time to take the bottom off and have a look -
UK use 3 pins...
maybe £200 at least... that's just a guess -
-
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
£200
thats quite a lot, wonnt be getting any of these for a while, money is no object so eventually im going to get 3 x 500GB = 1.5TB^^ -
i think im going with a 200gb 7200rpm when i order mine unless they have new and imporoved models by then =x but i also have my 500 gb external =D
-
i'm not too interested in the high capacity hard drive on a notebook, i have 750GB on my Desktop which i will be getting rid of later. I plan to get an external, so i do not overuse the hdd in the notebook so i only need a low capacity one internally.
-
The actual power supply/adapter is auto switching so it doesnt matter what voltage you put into it and as of the us/uk plug, either the supplier you order off can get you one for the uk (mine did - for free) or you can just buy one, they are standard cables

I'm going on 3 weeks with my 5793....it's awesome....extremely happy!
-
I'm considering getting one too. One question, how is the fans noise? Would it be too loud in the library?
-
-
Bo@LynboTech Company Representative
@Klinh01
the fans in my opinion arent too bad, considering whats in the machine
it does do a blowout every so often, like HP/Compaq desktops do
The blowout does tend to make people look round to see what it was
so it depends on how silent the library is really
its definitely not the quietest notebook, a steady humm, but of course my typing is louder than that.
Hope that helps -
@BOFH1971
Thank you for your answer. Beside the fans noise, is there any quirks about this system I should know before getting it. You see I'm not a tech savvy person. -
Bo@LynboTech Company Representative
lets see, quirks........
you have to hold the power button down longer to switch it on, when its on battery only. apparently this is to stop accidental switch on in transit, I dont really get how that would work
its very solid, yet not as cumbersome as you would think a 17" notebook. it doesnt seem that heavy carrying it.
it is a whole kilo heavier than my last notebook
when using the touchpad its easy to end up over the scroller which scrolls sideways as well as up and down
(that made a very big page in word one time)
sometimes when I boot up, my notebooks seems to be constantly aquiring an ip address even after I get on the web, it doesnt seem to affect performance, but is a worry that the connection will drop.
This may be down to my netgear router though, as I have had to reboot that a few times, for dropping everyone off lately.
otherwise I cant think of anything thats wierd apart from better performance than I could ever wish for in a notebookseriously this thing runs everything fast.

Trying to place order now, Any suggestions or do I have it all covered?

Get a smaller HDD, get only 2 gb of RAM,and go for the 8800M GTX. It`s 2.5x faster than the 8700M GT. It`d be a shame to pay that much without getting the 88M GTX. You won`t regret it !
-
Bo@LynboTech Company Representative
its true you can upgrade your ram later and the smaller hdd wont be bad to start with, especially since new ones are getting cheaper
the 8800 is a must, the 8700 is barely faster than an 8600GT got some dissapointing reviews.
good luck with your orders guys -
4 gig is a steal at the resellers right now ($35 upgrade), so maybe try reducing the screen resolution and hd?
-
NotebookNeophyte Notebook Evangelist
YES! Def. get the 8800GTX and cut corners elsewhere if you have to. The 8800GTX is IMO the single most important component of this notebook (along with the incredible solid durability).
-
Reduce everything that you know you can upgrade later on; e.g., hdd and RAM (e.g., just get 2GB in one SODIMM right now, that way you can get a full 4GB later on by just adding a second 2GB SODIMM).
Don't reduce screen resolution unless you were just being truly greedy and would be perfectly happy using the lower resolution screen - the LCD is one component that you definitely cannot upgrade in a simple cost-efficient manner.
Now, that being said, in this case the Clevo system is as good as it's word and the video card can be upgraded from an 8700 to an 8800 at a later date; however, I'm not sure that going that route would save you much money in the long run because I doubt if there are going to be a bunch of used ones for sale cheap, or significant discounts on new ones from the resellers, once the 9-series GPUs come out.
So, if you've cut the fat everywhere else, and going with the 8700 is the difference between getting the computer or not, and you'll be able to absorb the cost of a GPU upgrade at a later date (6 months, maybe?), then, while I would be inclined to suggest looking at other computers, that is about the only time I think you could comfortably go with the 8700 instead of the 8800. -
-
Is the 8800 really that necessary? If it means the difference between, say, playing Crysis at medium settings and playing it with very high then its certainly not worth the extra $500 to me.
If, on the other hand the 8800 is more reliable and will save more money down the road with repairs and whatnot then it is something to consider even though it puts me way over budget (its basically either that or the extended warranty, not both).
I don't need to be on the bleeding edge, so if the 8700 is workable to play the newer games reasonably well then there is no problem with sticking with that for me. What are your thoughts? Also, how does upgrading to the 8800 affect battery life?
PS- on a different note, the fan noise is no louder than you typing? if thats the case then thats pefectly manageable to me. I have an archaic Compaq Evo N160 thats pretty loud, so if the Sager N5793 is no louder than that we are in business.
Thanks. -
Bo@LynboTech Company Representative
just consider the fact that it will be longer before you have to upgrade
lots of new games that will try and cram as much as crysis in will be appearing this year, you know how it is when a game sets a benchmark
its solid advice, its cheaper to upgrade other components (and easier) than upgrading the graphics card.
when advising of desktops that I am going to build for people who want to play games, I always recommend getting the best graphics card possible.
and that strategy hasnt let me down yet
also dont forget, even if you dont play the current leading games.....one may come out that needs the power....and you may just be dying to play it
go on treat yourself -
Would upgrading to the 8800 make a noticeable dent in the battery life or significantly increase the noise factor?
I guess my concern is that the laptop is not my primary gaming machine, so it it jacks up the noise or destroys the battery life for a lil more performance its not really worth it.
If I went with the 8700, I could upgrade it later to a higher model, correct? It's all user upgradeable (without voiding the warranty?)? -
).
-
haha ok. The choice is clear for me then. Thanks for the help.
-
Bo@LynboTech Company Representative
the 8700 could still be provided on the older version of the motherboard, meaning that you cannot fit an 8800gtx later.
thats why there is an M570RU and an M570RU-U
I dont think there would be much difference in battery drain between the two, I suppose a test would have to be done, but when you think about it
the 8800GTX is based on the second generation desktop 8800GT processor which is more power efficient and runs cooler, they reduced the Nm
anyway I am sure you will enjoy the notebook no-matter which one you choose
good luck
