    It's out for delivery!

Perhaps the "noob" in the thread title should be bold and underlined.
Here's my checklist for receiving/setting up my new NP8155/P650HP3 ordered through LPC
Please let me know if this needs amending.
    • Film the unboxing, just in case
    • Turn it on, create USB backup media
    • Make Win10 look like Win95 (cause that's how I roll)
    • Utilize the ObsidianPC driver utility
    • Check the I/O, make sure they work
    • Install HWinfo/Throttlestop, and attempt an undervolt
    • Keep an eye on temps and evaluate any needs for a repaste
    • Proceed with plans for world domination
Thanks again to the NBR community for your assistance in my laptop purchasing adventure.

I would probably check temps before undervolting to get a baseline.

If by this you mean an image, then yes, I wholly agree.

"They"? Are you referring to the ports?

All the ports should have been tested, but good call; be thorough for your own and your reseller's sake (in case something isn't right).

Hopefully all is copacetic and you like the machine!

Nothing like coming home from work to a shiny new toy.

So far so good, except the driver utility graciously provided by john over at obsidian doesn't seem to support the non-gsync model. However, if the worst thing about the setup is that it's not handed to me on a silver platter, I'm counting that as a win.

since you are an LPC Digital Customer, you get my full support and if you want, we can connect via TeamViewer to disable all the windows 10 privacy invasion stuff and make it look like windows 7 if that's your cup of tea and restore the old Windows Photo Viewer, install the classic start menu and configure it to look like a replicate of Windows 7 and check your temps with a small AIDA64 stress test

Just tag me if you need this and I will PM you. If you are happy with how it is then just enjoy :)

Following as I'm probably heading down a pretty similar road, right down to the model (tho I won't be trying to make it look like Win95; admirable goal but I should probably learn Win 10 better for work)

Still up in the air though LPC does have a good reputation around here and is a leading candidate

EDIT: @Phoenix I've read enough of your posts in my search that I think I know your vote :D

Unless you buy it from LPC Digital or HIDevolution or Pro Star Computers, then I won't be able to offer the TeamViewer session bro.

But you have this as a start:

Strangely enough, not much to report.
Now that I've disabled all the MircoSpy BS thanks to the links provided by @Phoenix (much obliged, that's good lookin' out homey) and gotten my OS looking like something I can live with, everything seems to be running beautifully.
I guess I was expecting to have to crawl all over the internet finding rare and hidden drivers and other software to make this beast purr, but I haven't really done anything.

I did get HWiNFO installed, but the temps seem pretty good to me (40-45 under light use, 75-80 while gaming)

I would ask, however, if anyone knows of any improvements I could make to the trackpad.

My chief complaint is the scrolling
-Win10 allows you to scroll multiple lines at a time, however this setting is applied to both two-finger gesture and mousewheel simultaneously, and it's either entirely too slow for two-finger or too fast for mouse wheel. Is it possible to adjust them independently?
My second complaint is a minor one, and is less tangible
    - I can't really describe it, but the trackpad just seems... hmm... like a B-minus? I don't know what I'm trying to say, just seems like it could be better. Any thoughts?

see this: Going nuts with my touchpad!

When I did wanna use my trackpad for the first time, I was going nuts, as I was trying to scroll using the two finger tap and drag, it would sometimes zoom in webpages for me, then I figured out how to disable all gestures except the scrolling one and that fixed it. check that thread it has the way to do it

Couldn't be happier with my purchase. 10/10, no ragerts.

Win10 is acceptable, not my taste, but perfectly usable.

I've adjusted to the new trackpad pretty well, just learned to scroll a little faster with the 2-finger gesture.
I do find that this one will also sometimes register my sweaty palm as a mouse click,
but Fn+F1 is a quick key stroke to toggle the trackpad on/off.
Backlit keyboard is a feature I never knew I needed.

The comp has been living in my smoky, cat-hairy living room since February.
It's got stock paste and I never got around to doing an undervolt.
The highest temp I've seen was ~90 on the CPU, 86ish on the GPU.
So far it's run Grim Dawn and 7 Days to Die on high settings with no issues and everything looks great at native resolution.
Though I often turn the settings down to cut down on fan noise if not using headphones.

Managing air flow while deep couch gaming proved difficult with the numerous vents. It's possible, just not comfortable.
I started with a 1-inch binder with most of the front cut off, which worked great until it fell apart a couple weeks later.
So, I spent ~6 bucks on some wood, found a friend with a saw and a drill, and built a small platform in an afternoon:
    [IMG] [IMG]
It works quite nicely, but I wish I had put some sort of pad or cushion on the bottom edges, or been more thorough with the sandpaper.
The LRFs (little rubber feet) don't seem to want to stick, but oh well.

This seems to be a common one with the Windows "taps" settings. You can disable most of them which can mis-register two-finger scrolling and such.

I'm guessing you're getting warm ambients at the moment? Those temps are on the warm side which I'd only expect under high ambient temps. Undervolting the CPU should help that a bit. Repasting as well if you feel like it.

You can use RivaTuner to limit your frame-rate if you wish. Unfortunately you don't have G-Sync so you'll get tearing, but it'll give your GPU a rest.

On the couch, a cheap alternative is a "stable table". Basically a lap TV dinner plate and quite often very cheap.

You could lower the front feet and have the machine tilted.
