    np2090 and orange box anyone with issues?

    i recently got the orange box and started to play HL2 and Portal. My pc freezes up every time i play and it happens at different points in the game. It happens when loading.....sometimes after 10 min. then somtimes after a few hours. I have been reading around but havnt found a fix and just wanted to see if anyone else with the same laptop is having any problems. Currently running 163.44 drivers and i notice that 1 of my proccesors pegs at 100 percent usage when i play either one of the games .When it crashing i get no error messages and sometimes i gotta restart the laptop.

    wsxga+ matte/windows vista premium 64/core2duo t7700/4g ram/200g HD/8600m gt 512

    You should probably be using 163.71 or newer with the Orange Box. Head over to laptopvideo2go and update :)

    (163.76 is the latest as of this posting.)

    i have the same problem. ive tried the newest drivers and still am having the same issues.

    I tried 163.69 then 163.71 and last 163.76 and the problem is still the same.... it crashes every so often and cpu core 1 is maxed the entire time im playing. Only happens with the steam games from the orange box.....i have run WOW and Rome total war and Medieval total war with no issues.

    I'm just guessing, since this is out of my league, but are you using steam versions? I've read that with steam you have to have the steam client open, which takes a chunk of resources. Is it/can you try a box copy?

    You could try disabling the in-game "community" content. I don't know if that would help. Also, it looks like you have a DX10 graphics card. I don't know if there is a way to force DX9 mode, but you could try that.
