just got my np2090 and some things arent working...?
the top 5 buttons to the right of the power button dont do anything... and when i press caps lock or num lock the indicator lights dont turn on... and the smart battery button and power usb buttons on the left dont do anything.

im on vista 32 and ive installed all the necessary drivers from the compal website in the order that the provided cd told me... except for CIR and TPM cause those didnt seem to work and i dunno what they do

any help would be appreciated. thx.

*edit* fixed touchpad scrolling with synaptics drivers and fixed volume button problem

E-mail the place you bought it from and ask for help... that, in my opinion, would be the best plan of action.

Hmm, maybe it's Vista related? When I get my laptop (since I'm loading up good 'ol XP on it) I'll check it out.

ok the smart battery button works for me. are you running in 64 bit vista? cuz i never got around to trying it in vista. for me all it does is charge my battery to 100 percent since i set it to only charge to 75. The only device i've tried to connect to the usb charge thing is an iriver clix and it didn't charge. it did say that a usb was connected though while power was off so it just might be that the clix needs a lil extra power. check your touchpad settings in the control panel. that or try installying your touchpad drivers again. you can set a horizontal scroll along with a vertical scroll.
about the buttons at the top, i'm waiting on an email from justin from xoticpc about it. he told me that he's gonna have his crew check some units out tomorrow and try to figure out how to fix it. i'll let you know if i learn anything. the lights i think are part of the whole button interface so if they don't work it won't work either.

im on vista 32 bit. and so if the entire top panel doesnt seem to work... does that mean Your status indicator leds (HD activity, caps/num/scroll lock light) also dont work? and which touchpad drivers did u install because im using the ones off of the bizcom website and when i go to my mouse options i dont see anything regarding the touchpad specifically... just basic mouse options.

hm...if it was this bad I would just return it even if it was a driver problem or not. Noone should have to go through this kind of hassle especially if it's a new laptop.

Unfortunately, this kind of problem on new models of any brand is not all that rare. I've seen quite a few people on the Lenovo forum mention problems with their new machines in June. (I don't remember the model number precisely.) I agree that no one should have to go through this but the reality is that if you decide to return your machine whenever this happens, you then should resign yourself to buying older models.

What I'm concerned about is whether it is worth buying this lappy inspite of the button problems with has. If the button problem is software-related,then I'm happy as it can be fixed when the solution is out.But if there is a basic flaw with the buttons themselves, then is the notebook is worth going for?

If it's really serious and occurs to most of us I hope Sager reconsiders recalling them.

I would wager my pre-order on the fact that its just a software issue. Fairly common and most likely will be fixed pretty quickly once they are more in the distribution phase.

I'm still thinking that it's a Vista-based problem, I don't think there's been an XP user on a Sager NP2090, or at least one that posts here regularly.

I don't know the details, but it seems to me that drivers for these sorts of things might have compatibility issues, considering how young Vista is. I could be totally wrong, and I could be a wee bit biased considering I hated my first Vista experience, but when I get my NP2090 I'll see if it works fine on XP.

i don't think this is a software issue or driver issue mainly because all of the other compal ifl90 owners don't have these problems its just the sager owners.

    My image! (Simpsons? Costello? Anyone?)

lol it's kinda funny scrolling down and seeing nothing but that userbar. I dont' really care. Use it if you want to.

I didn't even create it, I had some guy at signaturebar.com make it fore me. I just told him the pic and text I wanted.

as far as i know its another way to control the way your computer sounds. i'm not sure what the buttons themselves do since i can't use them but you can get to it from the control panel. there you can change what kind of environment your in and what kind of sound affects you want.

i don't want to send my laptop back either
