ok, so i was trying to run mass effect today (for the first time), and it wasnt working, so i went to "can you run it" and it informed me that my graphics card is just the standard vga adapter. i know i have a nVIDIA GeForce Go 7950 GTX w/512MB, which is by no means standard. so i go to my device manager and it says standard vga. also i used to be able to right-click my desktop and be able to access the Nvidia manager and that is no longer there.

i dont know how long it has not been working, im guessing a week or two but it could be more.

i need to help figuring this out. i am not confident opening up my laptop and fiddling with ****. any advice on what to do before i just have to call the company i bought it from?

Reinstall your video card drivers. You computer is using default VGA drivers on the motherboard. You can probably find the drivers on your driver disc, or on Sager's website.

You need a driver for your GPU.
Follow the link in my sig on how to update them and tweak your system.

also, eleron911, what will happen if i do all that and it turns out that the problem is not the driver but that the card is broken?

If you run XP 64 bit, then that is the right one. Otherwise just get one of the the other versions. Don't forget to download the modded inf as well, follow the instructions they have somewhere there...

If it is not a gfx driver issue (i would doubt its anything hardware related) then call up xotic and see if they can send you a new card (or send it back to them)
If it's still under warranty then it'll be free (unless you're outside the US, then you have to pay postage) otherwise I'm sure xotic will cut you a deal
