hey,
i just got a new notebook with vista 64 and a geforce 8800gtx (the sager np5792 from those nice justin's at xoticpc) and for some reason im having trouble updating the graphics drivers. when i download from either laptopvideo2go or the nvidia site, i get this message when the nvidia installation program starts:
"The NVIDIA setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit."
What's THAT about - can anyone shed some light on my situation here? I don't really have any games to play as of yet anyway, but I'd like to have everything up-to-date so I can do a backup of my system and start screwing around.
My current drivers are at 167.43..

We had the same issue when tried to use a driver when we benched the 5792 a the other week. Did you try the new modded inf?
-
Justin,
I tried the new modded inf, but Vista states "Your drivers are up to date." If I am correct, the drivers you loaded (stock) were 167.43. What version did you use to benchmark -
i found the new drivers and used the modded inf from laptopvideo2go, and now it all works like a charm.
-
What version of the driver? I tried the update with the 169.12 driver, but Vista just states, drver is up to date.
Did you rename your inf as nv_disp.inf??? or did you just copied it to the directory and deleted the other inf?
Thanks. -
hey rebel: i found the 169.28 drivers somewhere on laptopvideo2go (in a forum?) and used the attachedmoded .inf (unarchived the driver file, then copid theded .infintothat folder (overwrite)). it worked for me.

Ok, will try thanks.

Tried these. I went from a 3dMark06 of 8834 to a 4707. Hmmmmm, not so good.

You'll need to go to the forums link ( http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showforum=72) to get the 169.28 driver. The modded INF support for 8800Ms is starting at 169.28.
You may read how 169.X is better than 169.Z, but for the 8800M owners, the driver choices are the once that come with your system, from the manufacture’s website, or from LV2Go starting with 169.28.
On your 3dMark score, that looks similar to what mine ran when on battery. Double check your power cord wasn’t disconnected, wall power breaker out, or some background process wasn’t running and try it again.
If you still have problems, try a reinstall of the driver. I’ve had no problems with the 169.28 driver -
Will you guys post a review of your units soon?
