np5792 fan, 8800gtx drivers (vista x64)

hey, ive been away from the internet for a couple months and was wondering what was the lowdown on the fan firmware updates as well as the vista 64 drivers for the 8800gtx. i am curious as to how the vista SP 1 is going to affect my system, as ive been running that beta version that came out in january some time. anyone have a driver version to recommend and an update on fan firmware and bios updates, etc?

 

Well, I'll answer the 2nd and 3rd question:

a) Vista 64x drivers for 8800gtx: since I don't know what system you have, here's the lowdown: people here with 9262 seem to have no problems with drivers from laptop2go, whatever the flavor of the day may be; on the other hand owners of 570ruu and the likes( that includes me) of it still haven't found anything better than the driver that came with the driver CD, i.e. 7.15.11.6743.
Others seem to cut performance by half or more.

Again, I don't know your system. I did a stand alone install of SP1 this morning that went so smoothly compared to what I had been led to expect. It only took a lot of time so I went to play some tennis. It was done when I returned some 2 hours later. No driver problems or anything. Please note that I did allow Windows update to update my drivers such as the Intel Turbo, the Motorola modem, the Fingerprint reader,before SP1 installation.
