    hey so my LCD back light went out. i can faintly see the background on the computer and know its working there is just no light. what is the best option for fixing this??

    Get a new backlight. There are a bunch of sites out there that specialize in backlight replacements.

    Are you sure it isn't the inverter?

    no i am not positive. is there any way to tell which it would be?

    no lol i have double checked thats its not any settings or brightness ettings or anything. i can see my background just with no light. and it works hooking up to an external monitor

    Find an old LCD and plug the backlight connector (pink+white wires) into your inverter.

    Or, find a laptop with a working screen, and plug your 17" lcd backlight connector into its inverter. Might be a bit of a stretch mechanically there. ;)

    3rd alternative, unplug your backlight while the laptop is on, stick a paperclip in it and see what happens.
