    Hey guys I just received confirmation from Sager that my np5796 with the new 9800gtx has been shipped. I will be showing benchmarks in the near future as soon as it arrives. 2 questions though

    1. Will I need to install the the nvidia driiver...177.92 (I think?)

    2. Where is the option on it for maximum graphics performace? Would that be battery or nvidia control panel?

    Thanks

    It's up to you, but new drivers might conflict with windows updates, which results in down clocking. happened to me 3 times in last 2 weeks.
    it will switch to max performance once you launch the games, of course, have you power cable plug-in.

    w00t, my np5796 just shipped this morning (Sept 04).

    Ordered it on July 07.... -_-

    A little my fault, a little xoticpc's fault, a little nvidia's fault. Good thing I was in no rush.

    ZzZ Guy I'm curious of as to why you chose to get the 1920x1200 screen opposed to the 1600x1080(i think) Wont things be really small especially for a 17 inch and wont you be able to maximize game graphics with a screen that has less pixels?

    yeah, the 1920x1200 makes things pretty small but the desktop real estate is ridiculous. of course im a neat freak so actually my desktop is bare (including that stupid recycle bin!) and i run my games from the quick launch bar. anything can be run full screen but you'll notice some fps dips if the game resolution is different from the native screen res.... but its so hard to tell especially with the 8800gtx beast... i'd imagine the 9800gtx will handle itself just fine. besides, who can pay attention to such small detail when you're running around the crysis island getting shot at? =P

    @cheeb & embla

    1- It seemed like a good idea at the time
    2- IIRC I can lower the resolution with no ill effects if I so wish to.

    I have this driver installed on my twin 9800M GT's and I Vista x64 completely updated. There has been no downclocking yet.

    I went to BestBuy the other day to compare.. On 15" screen its too small..

    On the 17" screen it looked amazing at 1920x1200!! I would increase the DPI size, but I do that on my 22" samsung anyways...
