does anyone own a np8150 with a 7970m installed and can you get hdmi working with a dvi to hdmi adaptor. reason being I have it hooked up to a 3d tv that accepts hdmi and not dvi.

thanks if you can fill me in!

I dont know if this will help you or not but usually Intel igpu is the one responsible for hdmi output and not 7970m as many people think. So I think the question really is is whether when you hook amd 7970m , the intel igpu will able to cooperate with 7970m and thus hdmi will work.

I dont know the answer to your direct question but the NP8150 only supported 3D with Nvidia cards, AMD doesnt work.

dvi to hdmi does work, however only image and not sound throughput as far as i know. the 3D functionality could very well be taken care of of ur tv if it supports 2D to 3D conversion on its own.

ps: igp is disabled on hm machines

Yes, no matter what card you use in the HM machines the ports are wired to the MXM card.

So as jaybee said you will get an image from the port but due to HDCP not quite working right you wont get audio, you can still output it from the audio ports of the machine however.

    hi,
I used to have image & audio with my hd 6970m trough dvi/hdmi adapter, now that I upgaded to hd 7970 sound is gone, so the cause is the VBIOS of the GPU I think, don't u? I'll try different bios version to see if I can get uncompressed audio like before :)
