np8860 gpu questions

sry if this problem been tackled before..

I bought this laptop 1.5 years ago during which gtx 260m/ gtx 280m are not available nor supported.

i OCed my 9800m gt and a month ago it dies. i sent the laptop for repair but it costs me 735 dollars + shipping so im kinda reluctant to do so. I asked them on e-mail, true enough i need a gpu replacement...

I know people been saying that np8860 can support gtx 260m / gtx 280m MXM 2.1 right with bios upgrade right? so i went down in the forum and heard about rjtech but they no longer sell gtx 260m and only sell gtx 280m.

I noticed it was said that i need to mod the chip since it lacks backplate or smth but i have no idea what he meant.

my biggest problem, my card is totally fried. nothing is displayed on my screen. is it possible to buy the gtx 280m? replace then bios upgade or do i need to blind flash my laptop so that the gtx 280m even runs? this laptop is again the np8860 revision not np8862.

if there is a step by step guide as to how to do this i would certainly appreciate it.

 

If you search, maybe you`ll find it. A GTX 280M will work with both the M860TU and ETU, but you`ll need bios 1.14 and KBC/EC 10. ETU means it supports quad-core.

The GTX 280M are for the M570, which doesn`t use the backplate. So what you need to do is to pry it off your old card without bending it to much, then stick it to your new card and hope it`ll stick.

If you have to blind flash it, I don`t know.

anyone knows a guide regarding how i can blind flash this laptop to BIOS .14 and EC .10?
or will this gpu run without the bios upgrade at all?

i dont mind if the cpu can even run so at least i can see what im doing otherwise i might have to go with blind flash...
