my laptop all of the sudden wont draw power from the battery. it wont power on with only the battery, the ac must be plugged in. when powered on if i pull the ac it will shut off.
windows reads the battery at 59% plugged in and charging, but doesnt go up or down. never changed any settings or anything, worked fine one night, woke up in the morning and tried to turn it on and now its doing this.
it is not the battery because the "tech support" said the battery most likely went bad and getting a new one should fix the issue. $110 and 4 days later it still aint working.
then they said it could be a motherboard issue and could cost $800 or more because im out of warranty.
my question is what, if anything, can i do to fix this myself and without spend 1/3 the value of the entire system? any help at all will be greatly appreciated.
i forgot to mention this happened literally a month after my warranty expired.

download battery care from my sig below.
then try both batterys to see how much charge they each have. dont. trust windows 59%
it could well be something burned out on the mother board but hopefully someone else can help you out. -
current battery capacity: 57%
remaining time: -
battery status: charging
total capacity: 60769mwh
current capacity: 34869mwh
charge/discharge: 0w
voltage: 14800mv
wear level: 21%
nothing changes over time
also the first day the battery wouldnt power the laptop windows read it at 60% and started creeping down over the days -

Wear level is a bit high but your battery should still charge. Are you under warranty?

expired 1 month ago. i am very upset about that.
also i ordered another battery because the xotic tech "support" said it would probably fix it and it does the exact same things as my old battery. -

Well, theirs was a viable suggestion. At this point, it sounds more to me like the circuit, which would be a mainboard problem.

yep thats what i figured just wanted to take a shot in the dark before i made a decision
sucks to pay for a defect especually such an important and expensive defect -

Did you remove the battery and clean the contacts? I used to have a laptop that won't charge. It was a toshiba. Called Toshiba and that was the first thing they advised to do. Did that and solve the problem.

tried with a towel and alcohol and no joy
its most likely a mobo issue as i feared
