It seems like I keep running into problem after problem. I noticed my laptop is now shutting off when I play any games. At first I thought I was overheating, but I noticed the battery bar on the lower right is never fully charged. It stays around 50-60%, and depending on the activity, it completely drops to zero (shutoff). Any advice?

Are you trying to game on battery, or does this happen when you're plugged in? Either way, you should probably try calibrating your battery; it may just be that the gauge is off for the 50-60% to 0% issue. If your notebook is shutting off while on mains, then there's probably a problem with your power adaptor or motherboard power supply...

Turns out the surge protector went bad. Replaced it and all is well.
