    Hello,
    So, I have a Sager 5793 and I'm having a devil of a time getting it to output to the tv.

    First off, correct me if I'm wrong, but the composite s-video jack in the back is not functional because I have 9800m GTS. If this is incorrect, please let me know how to get around it.

    So, I have an older TV that only has s-video and standard RCA connections. Now, the only other output I have is the DVI. So, the only real way I found to get to a s-video/rca was to get two adapters:
    -->DVI to VGA
    -->VGA to s-video/rca

    I picked them both up for 15-20 and when I plug them in, the forceware drivers see it as analog. I don't have all the nice 'TV' controls and all the output to the screen is scrambled. If I had access to the TV settings, I am sure I could get a picture.

    Any suggestions other then to buy a new HDTV?

    I'm not even sure where to start with support. I called sager and they were a complete waste of time....

    Thanks,
    Hilly

    your notebook has a S-Video output.

    you just need to use the Nvidia Control Panel to do it.

    read the User Manual

    Hello,
    Which is why in the manual, which I read before posting this:
    S-Video-Out Jack
    Support
    Note that NVIDIA Ge-
    Force 9800M GT &
    GTS video cards DO
    NOT support the S-Video-
    Out Jack.

    Now, this group is good at getting around 'issues' so that is why I came here. I was hoping there was some registry edit/hack to enable the s-video or a way to modify how the forceware drivers to see the tv as a 'television and video' monitor instead of the analog. The analog monitor doesn't have anything to modify to correct the picture.

    The 5793 has been out a long time with the 9800m GTS so i can't believe nobody else has tried to output to non HDTV before...

    Thanks,
    Hilly

    most people... like myself... avoid outputting to an old analog TV because there is little to no good out of it.

    the picture you get is not clear at all since it will only output 480i... but not even clear at that low resolution.

    does the TV have component?
    ... if it does you can get a VGA to component cable
