well, im going to order it this thursday, but theres a few things that i am wondering...

i want to order the 5796 without a webcam, saving me 50$. i really dont see a need for it since i will never use it. so i am just wondering how they fill up the hole where the webcam is at the top of the computer. anyone have one without a webcam, or one of the older ones without it? if its possibe, id like to see a pic of it.

i would also order it with the best wifi that it could come with... i dont know what its called but its about 90$ it can support wifi g/n/ a few other ones.... is it worth it?? is it a card or is it built in?... can it snap out or what??

im also ordering it without bluetooth, because when will i ever use it (and if i do ever need it... i can just use a usb bluetooth)

    so thanks in advance

EDIT: ordering from eurocom and its called the 570Tu

Since you said 5796, I'm assuming you're buying a Sager, not a modified m570tu from another company.

First off, you can't order it without a webcam, since the webcam is built into the chassis. Where did you get that figure of $50 from?

Second, it comes standard with the best wifi it can come with - Intel WiFi Link 5300. That supports a/b/g/n. It's a card that is removable.

Finally, bluetooth is also built in with the 5796, you can go in and remove it if you want, but you're paying for it anyway.

I don't think most people know the answer to your questions because they order from XoticPc or Powernotebook. Those options aren't available to them. I'd ask whoever you ordered it from to see what they do to fill in the webcam hole.

As for WiFi, having WiFi g/b/n provides more flexibility and best current potential for faster connections - would depend on the WiFi router though. As for it's location etc. I'm not sure.

Then it's a whole different case. The Intel WiFi Link 5300 is the best wifi, but, as Slayn said, it would all depend on your router. I'd say you're fine without the bluetooth, and either find someone on these forums and ask them about the webcam hole filling if they got it on their notebook, and if not just call up eurocom.

    Nope.

Eurocom is a direct Clevo importer OEM, like Sager and Pro-Star.

    All in the Clevo Guide.

    Here's my take on it.

I think that they found the base cost for the 5796 too high, so they said "oh, let's just make the base price on our site a bit lower, but not with a webcam included (which is standard anyway). That way, if our customers really want a webcam they can pay the extra 50$ and we enable the webcam, otherwise we break it"

So I'm guessing they'll fry the webcam or something. Cut a cable maybe.

It's very easy to install Webcam later. I bought my 570RU first without Webcam and later add one by myself.
