I tried resuming from hibernation today, and it took absolutely forever. It wouldnt enter into windows, at best i got a BIOS start up screen and the DVD drive was making a lot of noise.
I opened the DVD drive, and VOILA it went straight into windows.
Somehow the DVD drive was preventing windows from resuming from hibernation. Any idea why?

This is unusual. Is there a disc in there, does it do it when you remove it. Maybe change your boot order so the HDD/SSD is before the ODD.

This is a new one to me, too. Start by checking - and if necessary, rearranging - your boot priority order. Has it happened more than once?

Yep, BIOS order was the culprit, DVD drive was set to first in the boot list by default.
Ive only used the hibernate function twice now but both times they warned me that the system firmware may not have saved the system state correctly, but it still managed to boot into windows safely....why is it doing that? -

Possibly a bad/dying CMOS battery. That's what saves BIOS settings.
p151sm1b : resume from hibernate = DVD drive spines like mad
