my clevo p170em ( i7 2670qm -amd 7970m) is having an impossible problem , it keeps shutting down couple of minutes after boot up, i tried removing the battery and turning it on without the battery with the power adapter only and the problem persisted , i took it to the pc repair shop , he removed the gpu and the problem stayed the same he also replaced the rams and the cpu and the problem kept happening in the end he told me the mobo must be the issue , i bought a replacement mobo , and to my utter amazement the problem appeared on the new mobo as well even though he removed the gpu and replaced the cpu and rams , i mean he used an completely new parts and the problem keep happening! could the power adapter or the battery is frying the mobo?

First of all - check GPU, CPU, HDD and North Bridge for overheating. Than try to check your PSU - take voltmeter and measure the voltage on the plug for 5-10 minutes. Maybe there is a problem in PSU.
And your laptop is shutting down as follows - logging off from Windows, than usual shutdown? Or just immediate shutdown like taking off the power from the PC with battery de-attached? -
could it be gpu and cpu overheating? because the laptop shuts down like couple of minutes after booting it doesnt even get inside windows loading screen i dont think the cpu/gpu would reach any significant heat levels in couple of minutes, and yes it shuts down like taking off the power if the battery is de-attached which signals some serious issue , but im going crazy , like i replaced the mobo and used different cpu and rams and removed the gpu and the problem still there ,like how could i buy another mobo with the same exact issue !

The tech guy, that tried to repair your laptop, haven`t he forgot to put thermal paste and pads on CPU/GPU?
In my country sometimes even such situations appears. When was your last change of the thermal paste and pads by yourself? And which you used?
Wait. You turn the laptop on, wait the laptop for two or three MINUTES to boot into windows or even to windows booting screen? So long? Am I right? If yes - in addition you can try install another HDD, from a friend for example, and try to install new copy of OS and try to boot. Maybe there is problem in HDD controller. -
i dont think it is a hdd problem cuz i went into the bios settings waited couple of minutes and the same issue happened , also the laptop shuts down before reaching the windows loading logo

Check temperatures, this should be the first place to look. Maybe a heatpipe has broken.

hacktrix2006 Hold My Vodka, I going to kill my GPU
Sounds to me its either a bad power brick or a GPU failing. But like meaner says check temps. Make sure your CPU and GPU areas have thermal pads and paste. If all is correct temps and pad wise then its the brick as it might not be man enough anymore. As I had a 7970m that shutdown the system as GPU kicked in at Max speed.
So my real bet is the PSU no longer having the required power anymore as a PSU will loose its Max power output over time. -

The battery should kick in unless the adapter is doing something really funky though. I does happen though I agree so if the temps are normal that is your next suspect.

are you getting any fan noise? is it even moving?
p170em boot for couple of minutes then shuts down
