    Hey nbr crew,

Was thinking about getting a bare bones p370em and then transferring over parts from my p170em. Parts I want to transfer:
    7970m
    3720qm
    4x4gb ram
    samsung 830 256gb
    seagate 750gb hdd
    17.3" AUO B173HW01 V.4 90% NTSC Glossy
    bigfoot 1103 wifi
    dvdrw

Does anyone see any compatibility or difficult install issues? I'm most concerned about the screen. I don't know how the cpu and gpu transfer will work. Do I also need to buy heat sinks specific to the p370em in order to use my cpu+gpu? Will the optical drive from the 170 fit in the 370, or will I have to get a different cover piece?

Also, I'm assuming the battery and power supply from my 170 would not work with the 370?
Any other tips would be appreciated.

I just have a question, since you haven't mentioned it and I am curious? Is there a particular reason why you would be doing this swap?

I was originally intent on getting a p270wm. I wanted something with sli. Unfortunately it kept getting delayed and ultimately cancelled. The 370 might not have a desktop cpu like the 270, but that isn't as important to me as sli. I ended up getting the 170 because I needed a computer asap, couldn't wait any longer. Will also be nice to not have to deal with any sort of enduro/optimus/hd4000 issues at all.

All those parts should be compatible.
The screen should work no problem. We do use the same ones on the NP9170 and the NP9370. To get to the connection on where the screen connects to the motherboard its going to take a complete teardown of the NP937 so be prepared for that.
The CPU/GPU will transfer over fine but the heat transfer pipes are different so you do need new ones made specifically for the NP9370. (Per Mythlogics help below, the vBIOS does need to be flashed)
The old optical drive is fine and the new computer should come with its own bezel which you can take off and put on the new one.
You are correct about the battery and power not being interchangable.

The GPU's are compatible. The vBIOS in the GPU is NOT compatible. They have to be flashed with P370 vBIOS's to work properly. Pretty sure it won't boot without flashing them, but yea you need the right vBIOS's then they can be used.

Also be sure to get the heatsinks for the GPUs.

At least for the secondary GPU, the primary heatsink looks pretty similar (i've not had a chance to work on the 370em yet so if someone has first hand experience).

Thanks for the info guys, it's a huge help!
That screen tear down worries me, but I'm still confident I can do it. I guess I will have to pay extra for a CPU and 2nd GPU heatsink, not a big deal though.

I have no idea how to do this. Will begin researching tomorrow. Will I be flashing the 370 vbios while the card is still in my 170, and then install it to the 370 once this is complete? Thanks for this info. I'm in Chicago, maybe I could get a barebones from you guys and drive up to Michigan and you guys could do the transfer with me, lol.

Yes I will have to get the 370 specific heat sink. Confirmed by hustody and mythological and also by rjtech when I called them earlier today. I'll only have to get it cor the second gpu, and a crossfire cable, since I plan on buying one 7970m with the 370.

Also, anyone think they know what I could sell a used nearly mint p170em for if it had no CPU, no GPU, no SSD/HDD, no ram, stock wireless card, stock matte screen, dvdrw, battery, and power supply?

Thanks again for all the feedback guys, I really appreciate it.
