    fairly straightforward question I can't find the answer for.

    is the p170sm-a bottom case the same as for p170em or p170hm? What other bottom cases would fit a p170sm-a?

    They're similar, but screw standoff locations and port cutouts differ. You won't be able to transplant a sm-a board into an em or hm chassis (without modification).
