hello guys , how are u?
I am typing from my new and shiny P370em and i really like it a ton :D!!!

i Just came into a problem and i dont know how exactly to solve it.
Games run just fine at stock clocks: Gpu clock:719mhz | Memory clock 1800mhz.

But when i try to overclock it a bit ,just for future use, the gpu core clock doesnt correspond to the given value , while memory gpu value is accepted and running at the given value.

While I can set the gpu to its maximum of +135 MHz overclock both from evga precision or in Msi afterburner or intel inspector, the gpu remains at its default 719 MHz no matter what (even though GPU-Z and Inspector reported the higher clock speed) but when i run furemark or even 3dmark 11 the gpu core clock is 719mhz.

So whats wrong in this?Bad card or i do something wrong?

    Specs: windows 7 64bit
    i7 3740qm
    gtx 680m single card
    8gb corsair vengeance
    Samsung 840 250gb

    mygpu.gif sensors.gif

please any help guys will be really apreciated.

The GPU's VBIOS' are locked and you will have to flash them with a modded VBIOS to accept overclocks. I can give you everything that you need to get it done but I would ask you what your GPU temps look like after the heaviest load or benchmark. Like what is the highest temps you've seen and what got them that high?

Hey hey Timelord thanks for your time and your reply.

    @Stock Clocks running 3dmark11: gpu temps max:59C
    @Stock Clocks running Furumark :(15mins burn in 1920x1080) max:72C
    @Stock Clock running BF3 for 3+ hours max temp:68C

    i am running 1 x 680m.
Those temps will come down as i will do foil mod, some heatsink mod + buy notepal 3 cooler.

So its just locked down? so that means no defective card right?

Right. The Card is perfect. If you want to OC you need to do simple flash and it will unlock but expect higher temps.

ok , i am ready to do it. but reading around here and there i got a bit confused.
So from my bit knoweldge of overclocking i have to do these small steps.
1)backup my current bios using gpuz (to extract the 80.04.33.00.10(p2051-b002)
2)to make a bootable usb vbios under dos and flash it with oc edition vbios from techinferno.
3)after all go well ,to play with overclocking and test it for stability with benchmarks and stress tests
4)assist with new overclocking temps (foil + air cooler)

Correct me if i am wrong for all these steps.

So idle temps right now is 40C, its powered up 5 hours(i got it in my office)

    Vantage performance tests:
    Stock clocks:
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-3740QM Processor,CLEVO P370EM score: P22334 3DMarks
    memory clock+475mhz: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-3740QM Processor,CLEVO P370EM score: P23174 3DMarks

Thanks for your time though , i know you are busy , i am waiting your reply/replies to know where to start from.

Flashing Vbios do i loose 2 year warranty?

Depending on where you got the computer, Flashing doesnt void the warranty, however doing it improperly isnt covered.

So its re-seller's side option, if this +135mhz gpu core clock (basic overclock) will leave it on or off via his specific vbios?

i mean with this vbios that i have its not possible to do just basic overclocking for Christ shake...

I see people speaking with p370em how easy is to set their clocks +135/400mhz on other threads and for me its just took me 2 days to realise that my card its locked at the core clock.

I understand that some of the resellers want the best protection against heating problems but that core clock lock is really giving to my nervous as i have to do a heck of small/big modding to run the card as intented to , or to be more specific as the user would like to run the card.

please correct me if i am wrong on , if nvidia gtx 680m comes with core clocks locked at 719mhz.

    thank you.

It won't void your warranty. Please monitor your temperatures and stay away from anything above the high 80's that is my advice. We are playing games not cooking food :)

Download and follow the exact instructions for GTX 680m SLI configuration: http://rapidshare.com/files/692536498/OC Package.zip

Download and follow the exact instructions for GTX 680m SINGLE CARD configuration. I've modified the instructions specifically for SINGLE CARD: http://rapidshare.com/files/1462467363/OC Package 2.zip

There are two modded VBIOS' in each package: NEWBIOS.ROM for unlocked GPU tweak and OV50.ROM which is the same VBIOS with an over-volt for maximum OC'ing.

Now with all of that said I'm currently running default VBIOS and no memory OC after all of my attempts to get this system to it's maximum. I simply was not happy with the temperature increase for the amount of performance I actually gained. I'm really, really happy with my performance on default and my temperatures are simply amazing for the time being.

ALSO!!!!! FOR ANYONE COMING ACROSS THIS THREAD AND THINKING ABOUT OVERCLOCKING THEIR 680M'S!!!!! THESE VBIOS' ARE FOR CLEVO 680M'S 4GB ONLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IF YOU USE THESE WITHOUT THE CLEVO 680M 4GB EDITION YOU WILL BRICK YOUR CARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello TimeLord! I was lurking around and saw this post. I received my laptop yesterday and was interested in overclocking my SLI 680m setup. Your link is not working though! The first or the 2nd posting. Any chance you could e-mail it? Also, are there any "safe" and tested overclocks that have been tested by multiple people? I sometimes enjoy the trial and error of maxing clock speed -- but in this case I just want to settle for mediocrity =). If not, I am fine with just simply utilizing the package you are providing. If you are still having trouble posting it, can you perhaps email it to me? I appreciate your help, sir!

Hey guys when I couldnt get the links to work for me i found a way to do it myself. Super easy too. Download the LATEST Nvflash utility. Download the bios from techinferno.com. Run nvflash via the cmd prompt. The commands are nvflash -b -backup.rom this will make a backup of your current bios. Then rename the new bios and make sure you have it in the same folder as nvflash. I chose new.rom. Then type nvflash -f -4 -5 -6 new.rom this will flash to the new bios. Restart your computer and enjoy unlocked clock speeds. You must put nvflash in a folder on your hdd named nvflash the bios roms must be in the same folder.

You should really flash it from a dos bootable USB and only NVFLASH -6 XXX.ROM command. If you have 2 cards then NVFLASH -i0 -6 XXX.ROM then NVFLASH -i1 XXX.ROM

The bios that is on techinferno does not match id's you have to use the nvflash -f command. By using the -f -4 -5 -6 you flash all cards. and I agree the safest way to do this is with a usb dos booter. But I was confident with the bios I had and did not feel like making a dos boot flash drive.

You know what. I was a Windows 8 hater before even seeing it for myself for some crazy reason. I absolutely love Windows 8 and I did try the Start button replacement but I'm just pure default now and I have no complaints. Windows 8 is the best Windows yet and I'm really happy with the appearance and functionality. I'm sure a service pack update will change a few things that'll be nice but yeah Win8 = Awesome!

I'm trying one more time for this download link.

    http://rapidshare.com/files/1668162495/OC Package.zip

It's all in one zip and the 2 sets of instructions are in there, which I should have done.

Just so you know, that file didn't work either. When I get home I will try to upload it. Your instructions made flashing my vBios a breeze!

Now I am back with more questions:

What overclock do people run for gaming? I just want some examples so I know what ballpark to aim for. I am currently sitting at 950/2000 and after 3 hours I was sitting around 72C. But that was with playing Rift, not sure exactly how taxing it is compared to other games. So is there a recommendation on which game I should use for heavy load testing? I tried Unigine Heaven 4.0 and I couldn't make it through the benchmark without hitting 90+ temperatures (on Ultra, Fullscreen, 1080p) at stock speeds. I was curious as to if that's normal? Is there a more reliable synthetic bench? I have only ran this sort of synthetic benchmark on a desktop before...but I didn't notice any frame drops, artifacting, or crashes. Though when I hit 90 I didn't leave it running much longer. Just a few seconds.

Playing a game like World of Tanks, Rift, or CoD: Black Ops 2 I never saw more than 64C for hours at a time with stock speeds.I just need a better idea of what is comfortable for various people so I don't over or under do it.

Well my overclock is with the non-overvolted vBios and I'm running +153/+433 and using the 3DMark 13 and 3DMark 11 benchmark I get SLI temps of 55*C GPU 1 and 64*C GPU 2.

Certain games like Crysis 3 I don't bother overclocking but I just did a couple mods for cooling and now I'd like to see what my max temps are. Today I did the GPU backplate mod to increase pressure on the GPU die and it was a little hard but now that I seen some improvements I'm going to do the other GPU ASAP.

The 370em I reviewed I couldn't overclock at all with the stock BIOS. So it's likely a common problem. Keep in mind that you will want to flash the same BIOS to each and run at same clocks. It may limit you a bit in overclock ability compared with a single card system.
