You have the PM965 express chipset, so you can't use a CPU with anything higher than an 800mhz FSB.
    P9500, p8600, p8700 wont work.

    You can try a T8300, T9300, T9500, X9000.

so i would be wrong to assume that the p processors would theoretically work at 800mhz fsb?

Yes you would be wrong, notebook wont post at all with a CPU that has a 1066mhz fsb. You might have a chance if you mod the bios to support the CPU (can export the CPU module from another bios and import into your bios). If you did that then you never know, could work (but FSB might end up at 800mhz).

heh. too much trouble and tech savviness for me. thanks for the quick responses though. maybe i can score a t8300 cheap or a netbook will come out worth the price. oh and the x9000 won't work. too much wattage. don't want to burn laptop up. my 2092 has been chugging along great for 3 years. might just run it down into the ground. unless somebody wants it for $300.

I think it would be easy to get $300 for it on ebay.
But it's a nice notebook, can probably swap the 8600m for a 9600m without any trouble. Netbooks are nice, but none of them would be as powerful as your sager (unless you call the m11x a netbook).

You might be able to overclock your CPU if you can find the PLL. I got my T8100 to 2.7ghz with stock voltage and never had any problems.

i'm not too big into tweaking. i might tinker if needed extra battery life. am hoping something similar to 2092 pops that is similarly set up with the next grand babies i3-5-7s. and an hdmi and one usb 3.0 and hopefully bluetoof3.0. and 8+ hours battery with the optimus mode. graphics cards doesn't matter really. i hardly play. my most demanding game is supreme commander. i'm sure it can play that on low settings.
