hi everyone,
In this article http://www.infoworld.com/article/07/04/16/HNintelbeyondsantarosa_1.html, it says: "We will be able to take Penryn, the 45-nanometer [chip], and plug it into exactly the same platform to enable a fast ramp," said Mooly Eden, vice president and general manager of Intel's mobile platform group, in an interview."
I am hoping that when it's released, I'll be able to plug in a 2.5G 6M 45nm processor into my future m570ru machine. Any ideas if I am hoping too much?

Intel changed over from Socket M for the Meroms to Socket P for the newer Santa Rosas. If they stick with Socket P for penryn then all that should be needed is a BIOS update. However Intel likes to change their sockets and if they do, then a penryn processor won't fit.

this article suggests that they'll support socket p; so one can hope. i'll wait for the sep 2nd price drop anyway. hopefully by then more info will have come forward.
