both of the very bottom corners i mean in the utmost corners are much darker than the rest of the screen, maybe about 1/4" up the corners?? if i rub the lcd a small bit it looks great for a few minuted than gets dark again?? anyone else see very small dark corners on thiers. if not i guess ill have to contact sager its very annoying while working on o white screen.. they go to just above the task bar. i dont see them much with the taskbar up but i usually have that on auto hide then they are very visable. i tried to take some pics but they just dont show up in them. the right side is worse than the left.. anyone have any input thanks. for what i paid for this system i expected a near perfect screen and this is annoying imo, okay fixed the white issue after a second full recalibration the colors look great now.. but this whole corner thing is tearing me up..

if you can picture say a white screen like a white square piece of paper okay? now take a razor blade and cut off just the very smallest corners from each of the bottom corners so instead of them coming to a 90deg angle they are not square any more. kinda like the corners are almost missing.

edit: i pulled off the rubber screw covers from the sides and loosened the screws.. now i can actually see color there but they are much darker than the rest of the screen is especially when looking at a whole white or blue screen it is very noticable. on a normal picture or with the taskbar in place now you almost cant tell except the tiny little spots are kinda more faded than the rest of the taskbar is. before they 2 spots were almost completly black till you looked at the uptmost angle then they had some color to them now there is color there but very washed out and faded. could the screws have been made to tight (they WERE EXTREMELY TIGHT I HAD TO REALLY TURN THEM TO LOOSEN THEM I DID NOT RE-TIGHTEN THEN NEARLY AS MUCH), and damaged the screen in the corners? it doenst appear to be cracked or anything though?? or maybe something to do with the bulb illuminating the corners?? this is driving me nuts I LOVE THIS MACHINE EXCEPT FOR THIS and i wish the screen was def brighter .. i fixed everything else pretty much that annoyed me and it was perfect till i took the time to actually look well at the screen i didnt even see these spots while installing stuff last night but i was walking away while it was working so i may not have even noticed..

I SO WISH I WOULD HAVE BEEN PATIENT AND WAITED FOR THE WSXGA MATTE SCREEN NOW.. not at all a fan of the glossy screen they use... i wanted matte and i decided not to wait and now im kicking myself. ive seen both. if you cant decide imo WAIT.. the matte screen imo is far better than the glossy one is.. again ive seen both now

I've seen dark spots like you're describing on a few screens (different ODM). I would give Sager a call about it, but be warned that there may not be a fix for it. Most likely, they will have to compare what you're reporting to several systems currently on the bench.

i dont know what im gonna do im kinda ticked off about them.. not sure what i can do now. its annoying since i paid a major premiuim over the dell i had and i still have screen issues. the spots look almost as if there is no picture at all there until you look at the screen from just the right angle. almost as if someone took a knife and cut off two ting little corners at the bottom. its hard to describe. im trying again to take a pic of it but it doesnt show up very well on them

edit see first post, i loosened the screws at the sides of the screen under the rubber screw covers THEY WERE WAY TO TIGHT IMO.. and now it is 100% better but still looks really bad in the corners..

Wow, I'm really sorry to hear this :( I have to place an order in just two days time. Thanks a ton for the warning - WSXGA it is then. I wish you the very best of success in resolving the issues.

    Cheers

Hmmm, yeah zfactor, that was a huge investment and it sounds like although it's not terrible-horrible-unuseable, it's very annoying. That's probably worse than an outright horribly bad LCD which you just outright exchange without another thought.

Same company, different product, but now that I've gotten mine, I can definitely vouch for the WSXGA. The one I have on my 2090 is absolutely gorgeous; could be like "truer/shinier" in the glossy sense, more perfect than it already is I guess :), but it's damn good and I don't regret the switch, 2 weeks debacle, or $90 at all.

This is exactly why I returned my 5760. The corners had the vingette effect to it so they were dark. I also found out there is no dual-lamp in this unit so the screen really isn't that bright which was unexceptable for a desktop replacement because power consumption should not matter when you have it plugged in all the time.

I currently have this Dell that is having the same problem with the vignette effect. I even had onsite support come and give me a new screen. It's still having the problem so I am returning the system.

I guess I am just going to have to buy an instore system like a Toshiba or something where I can open it on the spot to check for screen brightness and the darkness in those corners.

again though to make it clear my screen was not totally black in the corners.. but it was much darker than the rest of the screen.

now i find out the t7500 retail cpu i had i sold this weekend to a friend and i got a t7700.. he used it in his toshiba and now his x205 does a constant re-boot and 3 or 4 times his screen has gone literally half black like the bottom half he said simply cut out.. ??? i wonder if that could have been the issue the whole stinking time.. now i have to hope there is no going to be any kind of fee with sager if they dont find a issue if it was the cpu... arghhhhhh i cant freaking win

got the new system with the new cpu everything seems fine this screen is much brighter than the last one and there is only a tiny bit i mean just a hint of darker corner on the right side. its only maybe 2mm so its not to noticable.

i now have a problem with the turbo memory so that will be for a new thread

justin and xotic so far have been awesome. this was handled great .. now just have to wait for my system to back to sager today and hope it finishes out the way it started, thanks justin and xotic..

    Probably he has this screen:

    Manufacturer : LGPhilipsLCD
    Product ID : LPL0B0A
    Manufacture : 2005

    It's in my M570RU.

Now I'm having some thoughts though.. I have to "cash in" my dead pixel warranty, because (what a surprise) I have a dead pixel. Hopefully I won't get the screen model back what zfactor had before. I read on a German forum earlier that there are at least 2 different WUXGA screen models; the one I have now, and the one zfactor had before. Guess I'll have to keep my fingers crossed, because a bright screen is much better..

lplf600 same as the last one.. a lg phillips screen. honestly the keyboard feels MUCH better on this one as well.. a much firmer keystroke not so mushy feeling, i do see the 2 tiny dark spots still in the corners though but they are no as bad as the last one but imo i think that had to do with the cpu now. we just finished replacing my freinds x205 t7500 he bought from me with a t7700 and now he has no issues either, i simply cant imagine why that would have caused that issue but id say it was the cause somehow. i now have a t7700 also in mine.

ralphfx... i WISH I GOT THE SCREEN YOU HAVE. i have a freind with that one and its beautiful.. so much nicer imo than the lplf600 its much brighter and has better contrast and not a hint of grain on it like mine has. its really really not at all bad but there is just a hint of it..where did you get yours from? and when did you buy it.. it seems to depend where you buy it from. my friend bought his before i did from rjtech and i bought min from xotic. rjtech offeres the wsxga glossy as well which xotic does not nor does sager directly

Kind of strange that the screen depends on the reseller. I got mine here in Holland from Friesland-Computers, they have the same supplier as xxodd ( www.xxodd.nl), so I guess that brand has the same screen I have now. Man, I really HOPE I get the same screen model in return, if it just wasn't for that ** dead pixel :( And now I'm kind of used to the screen I have.. if I get one that's not as bright, I'm sure I will really notice the difference.

I might as well ask my reseller to check for the screen model, but I doubt he will do that..

I did ask to replace my T7500 with a T7700 though, almost no price difference at all anymore (a week after I got mine the T7700 is now appr. priced as the T7500 I bought..)

So is this lplf600 $800 better than the Dells? You don't sound very enthusiastic. 2 dark spots in the corners, a hint of grain, etc. It's still worse than your friends screens and didn't come with an emblem? Can't you request a LPL0B0A?

no i cant. well the overall system is FAR better than the dell. the only thing that still bothers me are the two tiny spots in the corners. they are impossible to see while the taskbar is there though. i normally hide my bar and this is why i see them. the build quality though overall is much better imo. and no inspiron comes with the 8700gt card. the screen on this BLOWS my sec's i had away but imo its not spectacular by any means. its far better than the first one i had though. not much i can do i guess, justin said his had the same small spots on it. and they just dont bother him si i guess they are just normal for this screen.. wish they were not but .....my freind got his a little while back so they may have switched screens. someone else here on the forum said they sent theirs back and it had a different screen anf they got the lplf600 in return as well. so im not sure as far as your return goes. i may be buying my friends toshiba x205 at a price to good to pass up he got into a car accident and needs cash fast. so we'll see i know ive seen his screen and its beautiful not a thing wrong with it minus the fact its only wxga+ though.. i wanted wsxga or higher..

even though the new 5791 screen is much much better to me than the first one i still wish it was brighter. its great in a dark room but with daylight imo it def needs more backlighting. not terrible and def not as bad as some ive seen but his toshiba could burn your retna's its so freaking bright we actually have to turn his down to make it comfortable to use..

i took some but when i post them to photobucket and it resizes them it makes it very hard to see the spots. when taken at 400 on the 8mp camera at full resolution they can be easily seen in pics but when i shrink them to post it seems the become much less noticeable. any suggestions how to get them posted and show up at full resolution? the pics are huge that way though

as i said other than the 2 corner spots the screen is pretty nice, however if you want a super bright screen this may not be the one for you.

at full brightness on the sager with contrast at 72 and brightness at 47 (this is with calibration) it is better and whites def become more white but its about the same at full as my wife's toshiba is at about 3/4 of the way up. she has a sharp screen in hers.

Well, I sent my reseller an email about the screen model, but I still doubt he will check which screen model is on the new barebone.. But one can hope he DOES check it ;) Guess the guy must think I'm quite irritating asking questions probably nobody else will ever ask him.

The delivery service is picking up my laptop today, I'll probably have my new one back on friday. Hopefully with the same screen model.

this is not my pic. its gophn's but look closely at the start button and the other side.. see how dark the corners are. this is what mine looks like but mines a worse the darkness go up further on mine on both sides just past the task bar.. this pic from gophn may not have been intended to look that way but thays def what it appears like but more of a triangle on my screen on each side. again this second one is much better than the first one overall

dohhhh photo bucket is down right now..
